Advanced Math Assignments - Mrs. Sloan
Please see our Current Info page for information about math competitions I am so very happy to have your child in Advanced Math. I would like to share with you my philosophy for Advanced Math and explain general procedures and expectations. Students in grades 4 and 5 should keep a 3-ring binder (not a spiral notebook ). Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 should have a section for math in their large general binder. All notes, handouts, and homework should be kept in the binder. Tests will go home to parents in Wednesday Folders. Please go over each test with your child. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for 7th and 8th graders to save returned tests to prepare for exams. It is essential that students keep up with daily classwork and homework assignments. Homework will be assigned every day, including Fridays. Homework is not graded on accuracy , but on following directions and effort. I believe homework is practice work and students should not be penalized for having yet achieved mastery. This does not mean that homework is not checked for accuracy . Each assignment is checked by the student at the beginning of the period. Corrections should be made with a red pen. After checking answers, students are given the opportunity to have problems explained that they may have missed. This requires a great deal of maturity and honesty on the part of the student.

The Annals of Mathematics is published bimonthly with the cooperation of Princeton University and the Institute for Advanced Study. Founded in 1884 by Ormond Stone of the University of Virginia, the journal was transferred in 1899 to Harvard University, and in 1911 to Princeton University. Since 1933, the Annals has been edited jointly by Princeton University and the Institute for Advanced Study. These web pages are intended to serve the mathematical community. They contain information relevant to authors, including Annals submission guidelines and information on how to subscribe to the Annals and order back copies. Additionally, these pages provide an online index to issues published since 1994. It contains the tables of contents of these issues, as well as links to both AMS Reviews of the articles when available and electronic copies stored either in the e-print arXiv or on our server.
