Adult Secondary Education
Adult Secondary Education (ASE) programs are designed for students who did not complete high school and are aged 16 and older. In FY 2000 723,863 (25%) adults participated in Adult Secondary Education programs. A majority of adult secondary education students are preparing for the General Educational Development (GED) Tests that are offered in each state. In 2000 worldwide 513,203 adults took the GED test PDF (411K). An alternative to the GED is the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) and the Adult High School Credit Diploma Program.

Course Outlines A sample of Parent Education course outlines submitted by various adult education agencies throughout the State of California. They are furnished as samples or guides for schools in creating their own outlines. The outlines follow the components set out in the California Adult Education Handbook.
Document Library The Document Library is a searchable database containing full-text documents about instruction, promising practices, and research information. The following sample is the result of a search performed in the Parent Education subject area.
Reference Libraries The Reference Libraries gives access to searchable bibliographies of several library collections containing Parent Education materials that are available for reference, others that circulate, and public domain curricula available for purchase. The collections include: the California Adult Education Archive; the Adult Education Reference and the Educational Technology Libraries found in the OTAN Central Office; the Employment Training Network; the California Regional Resource Centers; and the listings of public domain vocational ESL and ABE curriculum from the VESL/Workplace Clearinghouse.
