INFORMATION: If you would like to take an online class, you should be very comfortable using computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail with attachments, and so on. It is imperative that you use a reliable computer with reliable Internet access. You will not be able to access the class online until you are enrolled and the class has begun, but here are some of the requirements for the Business 120 – Financial Accounting course that I teach online.
The only required meeting on campus is the final exam, which is scheduled for the Saturday of finals week (or the last Saturday of the summer session). This final is cumulative and represents 50% of your grade in the course. The other 50% of your grade comes from the online work described above. Once you begin the class, you will have access to an online calendar that shows the specific dates for the deadlines, the final, and other pertinent information.

What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning and Literacy
The book is primarily a criticism of 'traditional' school-based learning methodologies, using observations of children playing video games and the author's own play sessions as representative examples of the 36 principles of good learning he describes.
He uses primarily 3d shooters and RPGs as his examples of 'good' video games (meaning that they encourage learning things about and within the world of the game).
The author defines and conceptualizes his principles of learning and contrasts it with the school-based education process, noting the vast differences between the two.
On this topic of criticism of school-based education, the author makes a strong argument.
