Persisting with the story, he is pursued by sinister government agents. Meanwhile Wheeler comes around in a secret laboratory in New Mexico run by a covert government-backed committee. They claim to have devised a means of protecting VIPs from harm. To Wheeler’s horror he learns their scientists have discovered a means of creating synthetic copies of people (which they call somas) which are mindless but identical twins and can be harvested for organ transplants without fear of tissue rejection and are then killed afterwards. A low-budget production, originally shot on videotape and transferred to film for cinema release. The program ran initially on a sustaining basis (without a sponsor) as a summer replacement for The Screen Guild Theater . Studio executives were initially not impressed by the program. They changed their view when due to a water hose burst in the transmitter cooling system at a Chicago station WBBM 'The Mother Goose Murders' was forced off the air 9 minutes before the end of the program. The number of listeners who called in was so great it not only remained on the air but also garnered its first sponsor Gulf Oil. Not much survived the years apart from the 'translations' of the stories to other formats. After this period the format changed to half an hour drama's. To prevent the plot leaking out Zachary would keep the final part a secret even to the actors who played in it. At the last dressed rehearsal all was revealed and it didn't take long for the actors to organize a pool, the winner being the one who unmasked the culprit. Hugh White's Rosendale Cement While Hugh was taking care of the cement works in Chittenango, Canvass was directing his attention to the development of the water power potential at the falls at Cohoes, NY. In 1826, Canvass White became the first president of the Cohoes Company. Hugh eventually followed his brother to Cohoes, moving to Waterford in 1830, where he opened a new cement works and became the manager of the Cohoes Company. During the six years between 1830 and 1836, in addition to managing the Cohoes Company and the cement works, Hugh White operated a saw mill and a flour mill at the Cohoes falls. In 1836 Hugh White took on two additional manufacturing enterprises. In Cohoes he was one of the incorporating stockholders of the Harmony Manufacturing Company (a cotton factory) which became the famous Harmony Mill. It was in 1836 that Hugh White purchased the first property in the town of Hurley (now the hamlet of Whiteport in Rosendale) with the intention of developing a cement manufacturing works along the Greenkill. This six-acre parcel of land, purchased from Jonathan Krom, was near the Hoffman cement quarries. In short order Hugh White rapidly expanded his holdings, either by purchase or lease of adjacent property. White acquired land for mill sites from some of the early settlers of this part of Rosendale. Jacob and Margaret Peters, Jonathan Krom, Rachel van Sickle and Charles Dubois all sold land to White. Garrett Dewitt, Cornelius Lefever, Jonathan and Charles Krom, and Solomon Relyea all leased property to White. [

WHIT'S HOME PAGE Hi, and welcome! I'm Whitney Walters, wife of an engineer, mother of two beautiful daughters and mother-in-law to a wonderful young man. We share our home with a bossy male Yorkshire Terrier named Stonewall Jackson and a Green Quaker Parakeet known as Romeo. We're from the coast of North Carolina, and enjoy the wonders of nature every day. We have experienced the force of nature more times than we really like, especially whenever one of those pesky hurricanes decide to come calling. I come from a family that's always been considered a little strange by the locals. My father, Hugh Zachary, made a living as a full time writer for as long as I can remember. My mother, an artist in every sense of the word, has helped him with his writing and has turned out some impressive oil paintings. So it's not surprising I love the arts too. I'm an aspiring writer of time travel. I love doing newsletters. It's something I do to relax. I was editor for three years of the newsletter for the Lower Cape Fear Chapter of RWA. Subscribe 'Hardest year of our lives' By TREVOR MAXWELL STAFF WRITER Zachary Meltzer will wake in a Manhattan hotel tomorrow, as another dawn crests over the dark East River and the city's steep dimensions. Zachary Meltzer of Centerville with a photograph of his son Stuart and two grandsons. Stuart Meltzer was killed Sept. 11 in the World Trade Center. (Staff photo by STEVE HEASLIP) He will force himself to shower, to dress, to recite a quiet prayer. And once again his routine will be defined by what is missing: the daily phone call with his son Stuart. Meltzer will look out toward the crowds moving between buildings, people still dazed and mourning, gathered to pay tribute. He will then make a decision.
