J.R.R.Tolkien In un buco per terra abitava un hobbit... (Tolkien, J.R.R.) John Ronald Reuel Tolkien nacque a Bloemfontain (Sudafrica) il 3 Gennaio 1892, ma molto piccolo andò in Inghilterra. Prese una laurea in Letteratura Inglese e posteriormente combatte nella I Guerra Mondiale. Finita la guerra prese un posto di professore nell'Università di Leeds, e dopo ottenne la cattedra ad Oxford. Secondo le sue parole, un giorno, mentre correggeva degli esami, scrisse su un foglio in bianco la citazione che appare su in questa pagina. "Non sapevo e non so perché", continuò a dire molto tempo dopo. Questa frase fu il principio della maggior saga letteraria che abbia mai visto luce. Tolkien morì il 2 Settembre 1873, agli 81 anni d'età. In questo sito voglio fare un breve riassunto dell' opera di Tolkien, centrandomi nella Terra di Mezzo, e dei migliori links libri tolkiendili , anche se poche volte lo raccomandiamo perché bisogna cominciare col più "arido" di tutti e tre, il Silmarillion. Per chi voglia cominciare più soave, è perfettamente possibile leggere prima l'Hobbit, dopo Il Signore degli Anelli e finalmente il Silmarillion. J. R. R. Tolkien Životopis klasika. J. R. R. anglického jazyka (1924), ale o rok pozdìji se vrátil do Oxfordu. Poté byl zvolen Rawlinsonským a Bosworthským profesorem anglosaštiny. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis a ostatní pøátelé vytvoøili skupinu „Inklings“. Scházeli se pravidelnì a èetli si pasáže ze svých souèasných prací. Jejich nejoblíbenìjším místem setkání byla Eagle a Child Pub, známá jako Bird and Baby. V roce 1945 byl Tolkien zvolen Mertonským profesorem anglického jazyka a literatury, proto odešel na Merton, který mìl mnohem radši než Pembroke. Tolkien zanechal výuky (1959) a roku 1968 se se svou ženou pøestìhoval do Bournemouth. Nakonec se Tolkien, když roku 1971 zemøela jeho žena Edith, odstìhoval zpìt na Oxford. 28. srpna odjel na návštìvu do Bournemouthu. 30. srpna byl s bolestmi pøevezen do nemocnice, kde zjistili krvácející žaludeèní vøed. 1. záøí došlo k zanícení. Tolkien zemøel 2. záøí 1973 v Bournemouth. Tolkien žil klidným rodinným životem - mìl tøi syny a dceru. Èasto jim vyprávìl pohádkové pøíbìhy s motivy a zvyky ze støedovìkých eposù a nordických ság (objevovaly se zde však postavy s dnešní povahou). Døíve než se mohli do Jižní Afriky vrátit, otec tam zemøel na revmatickou horeèku. Paní Tolkienová se zùstala se syny v Anglii. Nìjaký èas žili v Sarehole Mill poblíž Birminghamu a v roce 1900 se pøestìhovali na birminghamské pøedmìstí Moseley. Ve stejném roce Mabel Tolkienová pøestoupila na katolickou víru. Tato událost mìla na Ronalda trvalý vliv. Katolicismus se stal základním stimulem jeho života i tvorby. V dìtském vìku strávil Ronald Tolkien hodnì èasu vymýšlením imaginárních jazykù. Tato záliba nakonec vedla k vytváøení imaginárního svìta, ve kterém by se hovoøilo takovými jazyky.
