His next appointment was abroad, in Canada as the Frothingham Professor of Philosophy at McGill University, Montreal. In 1908 he returned to Britain and to Scotland where he spent the remaining 35 years of his distinguished career, first as Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews (1908-24), and then moving to the Chair of Moral Philosophy at Edinburgh where his predecessors had included Adam Ferguson and Dugald Stewart. He retired in 1941, but continued to do the work of the chair until 1944. Taylor was a man of remarkable learning. On Plato he was an authority of international repute. E. P. Taylor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Edward Plunket Taylor , born January 29 in Ottawa, Ontario Canada - died May 14 in Lyford Cay New Providence Bahamas , was a business tycoon and famous breeder of thoroughbred race horses Born into a wealthy family, Taylor graduated from Montreal 's McGill University in 1922 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Pursuing a business career, he used a brewery business inherited from his grandfather as the vehicle to merge more than 20 other small breweries into the giant Canadian Breweries corporation while in the process of building one of Canada's largest and most successful industrial empires. During World War II , he was a volunteer executive in the Canadian government’s war effort. He came close to losing his life when, in December of 1940, the ship he was on was torpedoed while crossing the Atlantic . He and others on the sinking ship were rescued by a captain who broke regulations to pick them up. At war's end, E.P. Taylor founded Argus Corporation , becoming the investment company's majority shareholder by rolling Canadian Breweries stock into the new entity. Over the years, he gained control of many of his country’s greatest companies such as Canadian Food Products, Massey-Harris, Orange Crush, Standard Chemical, Dominion Stores, B.C. Forest Products, Domtar Paper, Standard Broadcasting, and Hollinger Mines.

    78. Aaron Zeitlin, Edward Taylor, Poems
Aaron Zeitlin, Two Poems ; edward taylor, Huswifery . S platsn verter.. edward taylor, Huswifery . Make me, O Lord, Thy spinning wheel complete,
    http://social.chass.ncsu.edu/wyrick/debclass/tayzei.htm
Aaron Zeitlin, "Two Poems"; Edward Taylor, "Huswifery"
In regards to Zeitlin's second poem, it may (or may not!) be helpful to know that the fourth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is Daleth (the word is cognate with the Hebrew for 'door'), which has the shape of an open (tent) doorway Daleth also alludes to the word for 'pauper,' who knocks on doors begging for alms. It therefore signifies holy charity, through which one can achieve atonement. The letter's gematria number is four, so daleth is also connected to the 'Four Worlds' of God's creation, the last - and fourth - of which is action. Nonetheless, one may wish to think of the Kabbalistic tradition concerning the alphabet before creation: the letters then were arranged in opposite sequence, so that the aleph was the last letter. In this reversed sequence, which represents the pure Divine Spirit and was engraved with flaming fire on the Crown of God, the letter Kuf is the fourth letter. Kuf , with a gematria number of 100, alludes to God's unlimited and inconceivable holiness. It is also connected with the idea of seasonal and religious cycles and of sacrifice. Lastly, it is cognate with the Hebrew word for 'monkey,' suggesting that those who do not sincerely attempt to imitate God's holiness will sink to the level of animals - at best becoming foolish parodies of human potential.
    Aaron Zeitling, "Text" ["Tekst"]

    http://www.firstflight.org/shrine/charlie_taylor.cfm
Charles Edward Taylor The World's First Airplane Mechanic Inducted in 1983 C harlie Taylor was a silent but essential participant in the Wright Brothers' success story at Kitty Hawk. In six weeks he built the 12-horsepower engine that powered the first successful flying machine, the Wright Flyer. Taylor was hired by the Wright's as a machinist at the Wright Cycle Company in Dayton, Ohio. His only prior experience with a gasoline engine was an attempt to repair one in an automobile in 1901. "Never did get it to work," he stated later. Taylor's pioneering career in aviation mechanics spanned more than sixty years. After the first successful flights in 1903, he performed all of the preliminary engine design work for the Wrights and later taught them to build aircraft engines. He travelled with Orville to Fort Meyer, Virginia in 1908 during test flights for the United States government and was with Wilbur at the 1909 Hudson-Fulton flights in New York. Taylor later served as Calbraith Rodgers' lead mechanic during his first transcontinental flight in 1911. dec17@firstflight.org
