Certificate: Year: Running time: 100 minutes Deep sea road movie. Marlin, a clownfish loses his wayward son, Nemo, to a fish tank in Sydney, Australia. Time being of the essence, he sets out across the ocean to rescue the little fella. Look at the polygons on that! Who'd of thought fish would make an interesting film? They look great wrapped in batter and greaseproof paper with some chips and sprinkled in salt and vinegar. Their freshly picked bones are a great reminder that you have a gut full of sweet tasting white flesh from the deep blue sea. Mmm. So ickle fishies with personalities and whatnot? It could work, and thanks to Pixar, it does!
Have you seen how the lads and lasses at Pixar carry out their day to day work? Apparently, they don't actually do anything! They just come to work in shorts and shirt and spend all day bombing around on little scooters, trying to pull little wheelies and doing skids in gravel pits (to impress birds). In one room they have a team of animators each working on an individual hair follicle of some sort, and then the team of animators from next door (who have each been working on an individual blood vein in an eyeball for the last ten years) burst in on their scooters to have a sort of turf war because someone pushed in front of one of their gang at the soft drinks machine. What a life! Just arsing around and scrapping and stuff, and the movie just makes itself!

I. Response from Mark Reisinger, Belgian Methadone Advocate
When I read your article I felt it did not fit with my experience of heroin addiction as a MD (using methadone and buprenorphine among other medications), as a psychotherapist, as a social anthropologist and also as a friend of some heroin users and addicts. So I wasn't too surprised that you write mostly about alcohol. In this field, I follow you largely, but I don't think you have ground to extend your conclusions to heroin. As a matter of fact your incursions in the heroin addiction field are not too convincing: Of all the men addicted in Vietnam [defined as prolonged heavy use and severe withdrawal symptoms lasting more than two days], only 12% have relapsed to addiction at any time since their return. . . . Of those men who were addicted in the first year back, half were treated and half were not. . . . Of those treated, 47 percent were addicted in the second period; of those not treated, 17 percent were addicted... Don't forget that the duration of the enrolment in Vietnam was not very long. I think the GIs were staying something like 10 months in Vietnam. So even if they became immediately addicted on their arrival (which is unprobable), they didn't have time to develop a severe habit. In the US, a lot of them went back in the middle of the country where heroin was not available. So it is not surprising if 88% had no relapse.

MOVIE REVIEW 'Finding Nemo' An ocean of engaging characters enlivens Pixar's "Finding Nemo."
'Finding Nemo'
(Disney/Pixar)
By Kenneth Turan, Times Staff Writer Theaters, showtimes We've suspected it for some time, but "Finding Nemo" all but makes it official: With five successes out of five attempts, Pixar Animation Studios is now the most reliable creative force in Hollywood. Perhaps not since Preston Sturges made seven classic comedies in a row between 1940 and 1944 has one name been such a consistent indicator of audience and critical pleasure. Following the two "Toy Story" films, "A Bug's Life" and "Monsters, Inc.," Pixar's entertainment philosophy gets another boost with "Finding Nemo," an engaging undersea story, written and directed by Andrew Stanton, of a fish family learning life lessons that (surprise!) humans can benefit from as well. But success here, although based on the twin factors that have always characterized Pixar productions, was not necessarily preordained. In fact, there are moments early on in "Finding Nemo" where it almost seemed like the venture was going to lose its way.

1957 - present Sporting new fully maroon jerseys emblazoned with a huge white sea eagle across the chest, Manly returned to the semi-finals in 1957. The Manly Sea Eagles side was coached by 27 year-old Ken Arthurson who had been forced into early player retirement by injury. Arthurson's team boasted some great and experienced players including Roy Bull, George Hunter, Rex Mossop, Ray Ritchie, Ron Willey, George Hugo and Peter Burke. The side reached the qualifying Final and the Sea Eagles fought back dramatically from an 11-2 deficit against South Sydney at half-time, to record a win by 15-11 and a place in the Grand Final against St. George. Manly held the Dragons to 4-all nearing the break, before an against the run of play intercept from a wayward pass saw Tom Ryan sprint away to score in the corner. After Harry Bath converted the try St. George led at half-time by 9-4, but the Sea Eagles appeared to be deflated by the jolt. The second half was one to forget for Manly as they eventually lost 31-9. The Arthurson coaching era saw Manly consistently make the semi-finals over the following seasons until at the end of the 1961 season he stood down to embark on his celebrated administrative career.

Wood Andrew Stanton directs Ellen DeGeneres on Finding Nemo. Writing the words that will come out of a flesh and blood actor’s mouth is one thing. But writing dialogue for a wooden cowboy, a renegade ant, a child-scaring monster and a kidnapped clownfish is a completely different story—and writing process. With Finding Nemo still drawing families to theaters in droves more than a month after its release, the film’s writer-director Andrew Stanton talked with MM about what it takes to succeed in the family entertainment game. Jennifer Wood (MM): As one of Pixar’s first employees, did you ever imagine then that the company would be where it is now? Andrew Stanton (AS): Not in a million years. And it just keeps getting better. It’s really scary.

Aside from teaching four levels of speech at E.A., she also directed the Varig and Eagle Cup Meets, the production of countless E.A. plays, the near-professional Talent Shows, as well as the Fashion Shows. "Finding Nemo" This latest computer animated offering from Pixar combines all the emotional warmth in a story with the rainbow hued colours of the world under water guaranteed to amaze children and adults alike. Nemo, his son, is soon born. And he grows up to be a frisky, happy little fish waiting to explore the world. But the tragedy of losing his wife makes Marlin very cautious and protective. And when Nemo is ready for school, Marlin tries not to let him out of sight. Chafing under his father's stuffy protection, Nemo swims much further than he should and gets scooped up by a divers net. Taken away, his captor is a dentist in downtown Sydney and Nemo lands up in his aquarium. Marlin cannot bear the separation. And he must find his son at any cost. And while doing so, he discovers that the sea is a very large place indeed. He sets off alone, but is soon aided by Dory, a blue fish with temporary memory loss (some of the scenes with Dory are a scream).
