1943, Montreal, Quebec, Canada John N. Smith completed a BA in political philosophy at McGill University in Montreal in 1964. He worked as a stevedore, tobacco picker, construction worker and taxi driver before joining the CBC as a researcher in 1968. Within a year, he was producing the prime-time public affairs program "The Way It Is", then moved to the private sector to produce the critically acclaimed series "The Fabulous Sixties" and "Here Come the Seventies", and won an Emmy award for the series "51st State", produced for the New York public television station WNET. Upon joining the National Film Board in1972, Smith's first project was Filmglish , a series of offbeat and amusing films for teaching English as a second language. At the same time, he worked on segments of West Atlanticanada and Pacificanada , three television series designed to explore and heighten awareness of the regional and linguistic differences in Canada. Interested in exploring the emotional undercurrents that people experience when faced with trauma, Smith decided to try his hand at fiction. In 1976, he directed

THE ROSY GLOOM OF CORDWAINER SMITH By John Robinson There is a rosy gloom in the stories of Cordwainer Smith. They take place in a candy apple universe where the candy is sometimes hard to find. Whether the picture he creates is painted over the gloom or the gloom painted over the picture is difficult to determine. There seems to be (as the cover of the paperback, The Planet Buyer Foundation , but the technology is quite different. Robert Heinlein was immediately dropped because of a decided difference and lack of philosophy. Also, Heinlein has the habit of using other writers' poetry rather than his own. He might have given a plot or two, but not a story. We finally gave up guessing when Galaxy The Planet Buyer Updated April 12, 2001. If you have a comment about these web pages please send a note to the Fanac Webmaster . Thank you.

John Maynard Smith (1920-) John Maynard Smith, a renowned mathematical biologist, was first trained as an engineer. Then at the age of 27 he entered University College , London, and studied biology. After this, he began his career as a biologist, teaching at the University of Sussex. Although he widely published since the 50s (such as Mathematical ideas in biology , 1968), a great contribution appeared in the 70s, when he encountered game theory, and one of his monumental works appeared in 1983: Evolution and the Theory of Games (Cambridge Univ. Press). He has shown that the theory of game can be applied to varius problems of evolution, and he proposed the concept of Evolutionarily Stable Strategy (ESS), as an important concept for understanding biological phenomena. This concept can be used for understanding various behavioral and other strategies of animals, sex ratio, sexual selection, etc., in terms of mathematical models. He was awarded a Kyoto prize in 2001 for such works. The theory of evolutionary games is now used in various fields other than biology, such as economics, social psychology, and even ethics

A True Help for Adenomyosis
Natural Hormone Treatment of Adenomyosis
In adenomyosis, the endometrium invades the uterine muscle. Simply explained, there are two parts of the uterus. One part is the outside muscle. The second part, the endometrium, is the lining on the inside of the uterus. The endometrium bleeds and sheds every menstrual cycle. Adenomyosis is when the endometrium grows deep into the uterine muscle and bleeds there. The endometrial cells deep in the uterine muscle bleed every month and cause cramping pain that varies with the menstrual cycle. The blood and the endometrial cells that usually go out of the uterus with the period every month are trapped deep within the muscle and cannot escape. The result is cramping uterine pain that usually occurs after age 35. Endometriosis is endometrium in the abdominal cavity on the outside of the uterus, on the bowels, on the ovary, or on the tubes. Adenomyosis is endometrium trapped within the uterine muscular wall. Adenomyosis can cause many patients to have severe pain, prolonged or excessive menstrual periods and an enlarged uterus.
Pregnancy produces large amounts of Natural Progesterone and usually makes adenomyosis better. Natural Progesterone opposes estrogen. Also, adenomyosis disappears after menopause. What does that tell you about the cause of adenomyosis? Excess estrogen causes adenomyosis!

John Pearce Timothy Kehely ... Jean Forsyth Map of UK Vicki SMITH (nee McKEOWN) Why I Do Genealogy! I started to ask questions about my family after my father died in 1979.
Like everyone who has delved into family secrets, we wished we had listened more carefully to older family member's stories.
I was lucky to still have older family members alive who were happy to answer my questions - some were not interested at all, and you have to respect their wishes (even if that was very frustrating sometimes!)
Two 'lucky' incidents were instrumental in helping me 'find' the Pearces in NZ and the Kehelys in WA!
Visiting the Deakin library with a friend I was just browsing while she poured over shipping indexes. I found a book - Dictionary of Western Australia Biography - and as I sat down to check the book out, it 'opened' at the 'K' page and out jumped the surname KEHELY! Yes it was an entry for my ancestor Timothy arriving in Fremantle in 1841 from Ireland as a bonded servant.
I set out to find where my ancestors came from, how they were doing where they were, why they moved where they did and how they fared when they got there.

SMITH, JOHN PETER qv admitted Smith to the bar in 1860. When the Civil War qv broke out in 1861, Smith voted against secession; qv however, when Texas joined the fight, he promptly began to show his support for the Confederacy. After mustering up 120 Tarrant County men, Smith helped form Company K under the command of Col. William Steele. qv Joining the Seventh Regiment of the Texas Cavalry in Sibley's brigade, qv Smith fought with the Army of Western Louisiana in campaigns throughout New Mexico, Arizona, and Western Louisiana. He was severely wounded at Donaldsonville, Louisiana, in 1863 and slightly wounded at the battle of Mansfield, Louisiana, in 1864. In that same year Smith was promoted to colonel of his regiment, and he commanded 600 soldiers until the group disbanded in Navarro County on May 18, 1865.
