Tonya Ramagos interviewed by Rosina LaFata, Hi Tonya, I'm happy to meet you (through Wings) and look forward to learning more about you. 1. When did you first have the desire to write? I think I was born with it. Writing is such a part of me that I can't imagine myself ever being able to live without it. I remember the first time I actually wrote anything of any significance was in elementary school. I wrote a part for a play that the fourth grade class performed. I didn't really write a lot after that until junior high school when I wrote my first book. Or, should I say, attempted to write my first book. To this day, that manuscript is sitting in my file drawer on tarnished pages and even I can't make heads or tales out of it. 2. What spurred you to write a romance? I think it was the stage of life that I found myself in. That and the many responses I received from readers asking me why I didn't write a romance for adults. I had never read an adult romance until a few years ago. They simply never interested me. Then I was assigned an author to interview for Book Browser and read her book before the interview. Needless to say, I was hooked. I started reading every romance I could get my hands on. But writing one was still a different story. To be quite honest, for the longest time I was scared of adult romances. Writing the intimate scenes was what frightened me the most. It was so bad that the idea for THE DIVINE BABYSITTER bounced around in my head for over a year before I allowed myself to attempt to put it on paper. And when I got to the first intimate scene I stopped writing for a week before I finally made myself write it! Then I sat back once it was through and laughed at myself for acting so silly for so long.
