A Short Article on
William Sharp/Fiona Macleod
William Sharp And The Esoteric Orders Fiona Macleod/William Sharp was one of the early exponents of some of our inner work. He/she was a member of an esoteric group along with Frederick Bligh Bond (the man who excavated Glastonbury Abbey according to spirit instructions...but that is another story), John Foulds (a remarkable composer), Maud McCarthy (married to Foulds, and protege of Annie Besant) and others. It seems likely that J.A. Goodchild, an expert on British manuscripts and traditions, was a mentor of Bligh Bond, and also involved in magical work. It is likely, but not proven by "official" records, that William Sharp was also a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and was certainly in some similar group involving Golden Dawn members, but it is his link to this more obscure esoteric group (dedicated to the goddess Brigit), based in Glastonbury and London, that passes down to our work. Lest anyone scream for evidence, I have Bligh Bond's private notes describing several visionary events involving Sharp and others, and I also have the original documents describing some of the work done by the group or order in Glastonbury and London, around 1911. (I have also lodged some of these papers with the musicologist and composer Malcolm MacDonald, who is the biographer of John Foulds).

Precis: The author of Glamoury and Celtic Tree Mysteries, and one of the most knowledgeable and respected students of Celtic lore and its modern applications, adds to his current body of work with an examination of the importance of the Beauty, Mystery, and Wonder triad, and an introduction into one of the most amazing writers of all time. REMEMBERING FORGOTTEN SIMPLICITIES
By Steve Blamires
Celtic Spirituality and the BMW Factor
In my books Glamoury and Celtic Tree Mysteries I attempt to explain the many aspects of the Celtic spiritual tradition as I know and understand it. Due to the limitations of space in these books, and in my other writings, I have had to shorten explanations which I had hoped to give in full. Now, thanks to The Llewellyn Journal , I am able to give more background and argument which I feel will be valuable to the student of the Celtic way. I realized long ago how fortunate I was to have been raised in such a special place and I was aware that a great deal of ancient lore and tradition was being revealed to me all the time by virtue of where I lived. As I grew older I spent much time adding to my knowledge by researching in books and listening to other peoples' comments and observations on my birthright. I found much of great value there and I learned a lot from these sources and have adopted some ideas and practices set out by others. But I also found a lot that I did not recognise or which went against the very grain of what I had been raised to believe and understand. Very often these dubious comments or statements were not fully explained by the writer and often they did not bear any source reference or comment but were simply laid out in print as fact. This was disturbing to me.

HISTORY
THE PRESENT
The England Society has promoted and joined in many 'clan' and Scottish occasions over the years and warmly welcomes members of other MacLeod Societies, their friends and relatives to all these gatherings. Our Annual Dinner, held in London in Autumn/the Fall, is a highlight of the year when we have been able to entertain Chief John MacLeod of MacLeod and always enjoy the company of numbers of kinsmen and women from overseas. A main object of our society is to consolidate the fellowship of members and so, in addition to functions in London, we are promoting regional activities to bring our widely spread membership into the fold. As time goes on we hope to have a full programme of meetings and gatherings centred where 'the Clan is thickest on the ground'. Our message on this page is simple: If you are a MacLeod (however spelt) by descent or marriage, or are a member of one of the Clan Septs ( see list ), and live in England, Wales, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, you are eligible for membership of the Clan MacLeod Society of England and through this membership of the world wide Organisation upon which, to coin a phrase, 'the sun never sets'. If you would like to know more and reclaim your heritage or be welcome at one of our activities please let us know - just contact any member of the England Council by phone, mail or EMail - the contact details are below.

68. Test 2
fiona macleod. I have been asked to write my story of how I came to know JesusChrist as my Lord and Saviour. Mrs fiona macleod (Leurbost, Isle of Lewis).
http://www.applesofgold.co.uk/testimonies_2.htm
Testimonies Index Page Fiona Macleod I have been asked to write my story of how I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I don’t have a very exciting story to tell, no great bright lights or sudden conversion just a gradual realisation that I was heading for a lost eternity. I pray that this writing be blessed and the Lord given the glory. My background, I was born in Fort William in 1970, my father came from North Tolsta in Lewis and my mother came from Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire. In 1972 my sister was born. We had a normal childhood doing the usual family things, like going to church on Sundays, Sunday school as most families did then, but my parents weren’t Christians. In 1976 my secure, happy childhood was soon to be shattered, when we had a car accident travelling to Inverness. A foreign driver hit our car head on. They were driving on the wrong side of the road. I can still remember the impact of the car hitting us and crying to God "NOT US!". Everyone but my sister was hurt, I had two broken arms. A week later my mother died of internal injuries. I was six years old, my sister was four years old. I just couldn’t understand why God had let this happen to us. ‘WHY US?’ We weren’t bad people. Did we do something wrong that we deserved this to happen? Our world had turned upside down and even from that early age I had to blame someone and I blamed ‘GOD’, for letting this happen. ‘WHY US?’ I couldn’t get this out of my mind. My father decided to move to live with my Gran in North Tolsta in 1977.

Last updated 6 Sep 2002 Fiona ) is a given name that was invented in the 19th century by Scottish author William Sharp (1855-1905), who used it for his pen-name, Fiona Macleod . The name did not exist, and so could not have been used, previous to this. While it is very popular in modern Scotland, it is not a medieval name. Sharp presumably intended Fiona to be a name based on the modern Gaelic word fionn -a to that adjective. One of these historical colour based names is Early Gaelic Finn Fionn Although it was sometimes possible in medieval Gaelic to form a feminine name from a masculine name, this was not done by adding an -a to the masculine name, but rather by using the Early Gaelic feminine suffixes -nat and -sech (which later became -nait and -seach ). This was done with Finn , creating Early Gaelic Finnat Finnsech loch and German ach ). The later forms are Fionnait Fionnseach There are a number of other feminine Gaelic given names that are formed with Finn- , including Early Gaelic Finnguala Finnmaith Finnabair , and . However, none of them could have given rise to a medieval

Two donations were made to Mrs fiona Jones election expenses by businessman MrColin macleod after she had a meeting with him, the court was told on Monday.
http://www.newarkadvertiser.co.uk/features/fionajones/
Between the General Election in 1997, when Labour candidate Mrs Fiona Jones defeated the Conservative incumbent, Mr Richard Alexander, and April 1999, an unprecedented series of events saw Mrs Jones convicted of electoral fraud, stripped of her seat, cleared on appeal, and back in the House of Commons. Question marks over election expenses claimed by Mrs Jones were first raised in June 1997 in an exclusive story by the late Billy Phillips. By the December he was able to report that fraud squad officers were looking into Labour's declared figures. The Advertiser's coverage of the events, as they happened, appears below. This is probably the most complete and authoritative record available. Alternatively, you may download the whole archive in one file to view off-line ( fionajones.zip , 1.05Mb) although the RealAudio samples will not be available. Reasons given for MP ruling The judges who decided that Fiona Jones was entitled to resume her seat as Newark's MP have given their reasons for their ruling. Mrs Jones reclaimed her seat in the House of Commons within hours of the decision and joined in a debate on the green belt and housing. A motion welcoming her back and praising the way she had held her seat was signed by 34 MPs. Jones back in house Fiona Jones returned to Parliament as Newark's MP yesterday afternoon. After a High Court ruling in London, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Miss Betty Boothroyd, cleared the way for her return. Miss Boothroyd told the House: "The Newark seat is not vacant."
