Society Summary It is the year 2073. A boy and his grandfather, clad in animal skins, are walking through deep woods. Having fought off a bear, they come to a fire on the beach, where several other boys sit watching their sheep. Their grandfather asks for a crab and they tease him with empty shells until he cries. Finally, they relent and ask him to tell his story about the past and the scarlet plague. The grandfather had been a literature professor at The University of California-San Francisco. In the summer of 2013, rumors began that a new plague was killing people in New York. Those infected developed a scarlet rash, had a few convulsions, then settled into a sleep-like state in which they became numb and died, their bodies decomposing almost immediately. The entire process took at most an hour, but sometimes as little as ten minutes. Bacteriologists died even as they tried to find a vaccine. People began dying by the millions. The plague finally reached San Francisco and mayhem broke out. The wealthy tried to flee the city and the poor murdered them and looted in revenge for their long oppression.

Jack The Ripper Guided Walks History He came silently out of the midnight shadows, on the 31st August 1888, striking fear and terror into the hearts and throats of the East End Prostitutes. Leaving a trail of blood and gore behind him which led nowhere. Originally known as the Whitechapel Murders, and later to become known as the infamous "Jack The Ripper". Try to imagine the East End of London, how it used to be, with very narrow streets and alleyways only lit by very dim gas lamps, as well as the "Pea Soupers" which were thick fogs they used to have, caused by the pollution from the coal burning in the houses and factories. The fog was so bad you could not see your hand in front of your face and it would be like this for days and some times weeks at a time. So the Ripper was able to use this to his advantage, appearing out of the fog to kill his next victim and then vanishing back into the fog as if he was never there. We will be visiting those very same narrow streets and alleyways, following in the footsteps of Jack The Ripper. The Walk At Mystery Walks we believe a picture is worth a thousand words, so as we walk around the murder sites we show you photographs, including those of the victims. We are the only guided walk company to do this. We also visit a Pub en-route to steady our nerves.

The illegitimate son of an astrologer and a Welsh farm girl, he had a poverty-stricken childhood, brought up by his mother and her husband, John London. At 17, Jack London shipped as an able seaman to Japan and the Bering Sea. He was an oyster pirate, a gold-seeker in the first Klondike rush, a newspaper correspondent during the Russo-Japanese War, and in 1914 a war correspondent in Mexico. His stories, romantic adventures with realistic setting and character, began to appear first in the Overland Monthly. In 1900, The Son of the Wolf: Tales of the Far North was published. London's Klondike tales are exciting, vigorous, and brutal. The Call of the Wild (1903), about a tame dog who eventually leads a wolf pack, is one of the best animal stories ever written.
