Richard R. Kennedy (APLC) is dedicated to providing the highest quality representation to people suffering the anguish of personal and family injury by helping them to recover, restore, and replace their economic security, their pride, and their self-respect. Our firm is focused on serious personal injury, admiralty personal injury, and appellate advocacy in state and federal courts throughout Southwest Louisiana. In 1965, Richard graduated from Tulane Law School and began his practice as a sole practitioner until 2000 when Richard III, who graduated from Loyola Law School in New Orleans, joined him. The Richard R. Kennedy law office is headquartered in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. Built in 1915 by their grandparents and great-grandparents respectively: J. Castille and Louise Chargois, it is a landmark building that is now registered with the Lafayette Historic Society. We involve our clients in their cases. We devote considerable time explaining what must be done to help them and why certain actions are key to their success. Knowing its importance, we take the time to explain the basic laws that apply to their cases so that they can better help us to represent them. In short, our clients are part of our team. We have also represented law firms and attorneys in various legal matters. Other attorneys frequently associate or refer us cases that involve complex legal and admiralty issues.

Richard Pryor (b. December 1, 1940) Richard Pryor statement: "I feel great about accepting this prize. It is nice to be regarded on par with a great white man — now that’s funny! Seriously, though, two things people throughout history have had in common are hatred and humor. I am proud that, like Mark Twain, I have been able to use humor to lessen people’s hatred!" Richard Pryor, born December 1, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois, is an especially apt choice for the first Kennedy Center Mark Twain Humor Prize. His irreverent comedic style shares with Twain the very attributes that made his work so attractive to everyone, regardless of age Pryor grew up in straightened circumstances, both morally and economically. His grandparents ran both a brothel and a pool hall. Juliette Whittaker, a supervisor at a local public recreational facility, cast him in a local production of Rumpelstiltskin, and impressed by his talents, continued to arrange showcases just for the young Pryor. He dropped out of high school, joined the Army and performed in amateur shows while enlisted. After discharge he returned home and, with the continuing help of Whittaker, worked as a professional comic in clubs in his hometown and other cities. Inspired by Bill Cosby, Pryor found club work in New York. Three years later (in 1966) Pryor began appearing on summer television shows such as Rudy Vallee’s "On Broadway Tonight" and the Kraft Summer Music Hall." After Ed Sullivan presented him, demand for Pryor extended to Las Vegas where he soon found that his hip, controversial style didn’t work well. Pryor turned to films, among them

Best search term: (mk14, "mk 14") (computer, cambridge, sinclair, science) Availability: Extremely rare Typical value: Few now recall it, but the Microcomputer Kit 14 (MK 14) was Sinclair's first computer. It was a significant success, with over 50,000 sold, though this proved modest compared to the enormous sales of the later Sinclair machines. Based on the National Semiconductor SC/MP processor, the MK 14's capabilities were minimal by today's standards - modern digital watches are considerably more powerful! Despite the MK 14's severe limitations, it was one of the most important British computers ever produced. Its success in finding a previously untapped market was not lost on either Sinclair or his employees, notably Chris Curry, soon to break away and establish Acorn. Without the MK 14, there probably would never have been a ZX81, Spectrum, BBC Micro or Archimedes, and the British computer scene would have been very different.

Profile of Power: President Kennedy
Three decades after his death, here is the startling story of John F. Kennedy's three years in the White House. Based on previously unavailable White House files, letters and records, and hundreds of new interviews, Richard Reeves has written the first objective account of Kennedy's presidency. President Kennedy is a dramatic day-by-day, often minute-by-minute, Oval Office narrative of what it was, and is, like to be President. This is the view from the center of power during the years when the United States faced nuclear confrontation with the Soviet Union and something close to racial war at home. This is brilliant, relevant history, vividly told.
Kennedy lived along a line where charm became power. He proved that the only qualification for the most powerful job in the world was wanting it. He would not wait his turn, sure that he could always prevail one-on-one - until, in pain and heavily medicated, he was humiliated in Vienna in 1961 at a summit with Nikita Khrushchev. He came home in despair, thinking he would be the last U.S. President, asking for the number of expected American deaths in the war that seemed inevitable - 70 million, he was told.
He began a massive military build-up and a secret search for peace. On the day in 1963 when that peace seemed possible, he gave the greatest speech of his life on ending the Cold War - on the same day that four black girls were blown to bits at a church in Birmingham and a Buddhist monk burned himself to death in Saigon to protest a government created by the United States. Within weeks, Kennedy and Khrushchev agreed on a nuclear test ban treaty, hundreds of thousands of blacks led by Martin Luther King, Jr., marched on Washington, and Kennedy ordered the overthrow of the U.S.-backed government in South Vietnam - beginning a cycle of assassinations that ended with his own death and those of King and his brother Robert Kennedy.

ZX Spectrum
Sinclair Research / Amstrad, 1982-88 By far the most famous and successful of his many products, the ZX Spectrum earned Clive Sinclair a fortune, a knighthood for "services to British industry" and a lasting place in the national consciousness. Huge numbers of Spectrums were sold around the world, making it by some way the most successful British computer ever made. Sinclair's standing rose so high that in 1983 Margaret Thatcher personally presented a Spectrum to the Japanese Prime Minister as a symbol of British technological prowess (although this turned out to be more of a symbol of Thatcherite hubris). The Spectrum was the longest-lived Sinclair product, eventually appearing in seven distinct versions produced over a six-year period:

Best search term: Availability: Very common Typical value: The , Sinclair's third computer, sparked a popular mania for computing following its launch in 1981. The machine was shipped in two versions: as a traditional self-assembly kit ( right ) and, more popularly, as a ready-assembled machine which only needed to be connected to a television and power supply before it could be used. In modern terms it was one of the first "plug and play" computers. By today's standards the ZX81 is laughably primitive: only 1K of memory, no colour or sound and a notably unresponsive touch-sensitive keyboard. Even by the standards of the time, its technology was basic. The ZX81 owed its success not to its capabilities but to that most elusive quality, being the right product in the right place at the right time. It attracted a great deal of attention by Sinclair's traditional sales route, mail-order - 300,000 ZX81s were sold that way by the end of January 1982 - but its key breakthrough was on the British high street.

Home Computers Timex/Sinclair
In the early 1980s, then as now, the world's biggest market for home computers was in the United States. It was an essential market for a computer manufacturer to crack. Although Sinclair did sell the ZX81 and Spectrum though mail order in the USA for a time, the Sinclair machines' biggest American success came about through the company's collaboration with Timex. The American giant was already Sinclair's prime contractor for building ZX81s and Spectrums at its plant in Dundee, Scotland. Sinclair was doing well in the States - by June 1981 it was selling 18,000-20,000 ZX81s a month, more than the combined unit sales of Tandy, Apple and Commodore. Unfortunately, the quality of the products was very poor, with only one in three Sinclair computers actually working. A tie-up with Timex was the obvious answer, and resulted in five officially-licensed computers based on Sinclair technology. Only three of these were, however, actually released:

By modern standards (or even those of the later Sinclair computers), it was a very primitive beast. An scathing

Richard M. Nixon press conference releasing the transcripts of the White House tapes, 04/29/1974.
Richard Nixon's Greatest Cover-Up: His Ties to the Assassination of President Kennedy by Don Fulsom S eared into the memories of all Americans who lived through the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is exactly where they were on November 22, 1963. Yet private citizen Richard Nixon, who — believe it or not — was in Dallas, could not recall this fact in a post-assassination interview with the FBI. The interview dealt with an apparently false claim by Marina Oswald that her husband —alleged Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald — had targeted Nixon for death during an earlier trip to Dallas. A Feb. 28, 1964 FBI report on the interview said Nixon "advised that the only time he was in Dallas, Texas, during 1963 was two days prior to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy." While Nixon eventually came clean regarding his whereabouts on that fateful day, he seemed touchy whenever the matter was raised. For example, in a 1992 interview with CNN's Larry King, Nixon interjected he was in Dallas "In the morning!" when King cited the presumed geographical coincidence. Nixon left Dallas on a flight to New York several hours before Kennedy's noontime arrival at Love Field.
