SIR DONALD GEORGE BRADMAN
COUNTRY-AUSTRALIA
BORN-AUGUST 27th 1908
Born in the small town of Cootamundra, NSW, Sir Donald George Bradman is undisputedly the greatest batsman of all time. His test average of 99.94 is head and shoulders above anyone else. The next closest is C.S Dempster with a meagre 65.72!
As a young boy, Don would throw a golf ball against a water tank and hit it at various angles. This sharpened his hand to eye co-ordination and would serve a greater purpose in years to come. At the age of seventeen Don played his first serious competitive game for Bowral (where he had moved to in 1911). He made 234 and immediately impressed. He was soon picked for the St George team and in 1928 was picked for New South Wales for which he made 118 on debut under oppressive conditions. After making three first-class centuries, Bradman was picked for the Ashes side in 1928/29.
His first test was a flop and subsequently he was dropped for the next test. He made a return in the third test making 79 and 112. Australia lost the series but they were looking forward to the 1930 tour with Bradman in ominous form. In the fifth test he made 123 and had made a further nine first-class centuries. This inlcuded a 340 and a world record 452. At this time he moved to Sydney for business commitments.

Hall had given his word that the Spirit would be finished and delivered my April 28th, 1927. He intended this new design to be the safest he had yet designed, for a young Charles Lindbergh he had just met. On May 21st, 1927 the whole world noticed... DONALD CROWELL Donald Crowell Financier, community activist Founded in 1932 by Don's father, Warren Crowell, together with George Weedon, the company opened small but began a series of successful and profitable years, continued unbroken to this day under Don's leadership since he became managing partner in 1967. Don operates the firm today with the same traditions and high standards advocated by the highly-respected elder Crowell. "We are investors, not traders," Don has said. "We are in the business of serving the investment needs of people. Our job is to manage money and to not only preserve assets but make them grow." With a client base of approximately 100,000, Crowell, Weedon has 135 brokers located in eight local offices and is a member of the Pacific, American, and New York Stock Exchanges. After graduating from Beverly High in 1952, Don attended Stanford University, receiving a B.A. degree in economics in 1956, then an M.B.A. in finance in 1958. Economics and finance were very natural to Don, as he had been investing his earnings since his youthful days conducting a paper route in his Beverly Hills neighborhood. Don's wife Suzanne has contributed much to their community, serving on the San Marino City Council from 1986 to 1994 and as mayor from 1990 through 1991. While she was mayor, San Marino successfully passed school bonds. Suzanne and Don informally shared their procedures with a Beverly Hills official, thus making a contribution to the success of the 1993 $77 million bond issue, which funds the current remodeling of Beverly High and the four elementary schools.
