Brigid's Hearth THE FELLOWSHIP OF ISIS Hearth of Brigid Star of the Sea The Hearth of Brigid Star of the Sea is a small Iseum (Iseum #623) of the Fellowship of Isis, founded by Margie McArthur in February, 1998, in the Central Coast area of California. The Hearth is dedicated to Brigid, Goddess of the Celts, who - as a goddess of poetry, smithcraft, healing, and midwifery - is Goddess of both the Fires of Life and the Waters of Life, as well as being the Bright Bolt that is the power of Inspiration in our lives. Brigid's fires were kept at her shrine at Kildare for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years, and many a country well was sacred to her, and a site where offerings could be made and her blessings received. The ultimate fire power is that of the Stars, and the ultimate water power is that of the Sea. Therefore, Brigid's Fire and Water aspects also suggest the sight of a beautiful star rising over the sea, thus this Fellowship of Isis Hearth became known as 'The Hearth of Brigid Star of the Sea,' a name that also links it with Isis, who was the original 'Star of the Sea,' and Mary, who became the 'Star of the Sea' of the Christian era. We of the Hearth of Brigid Star of the Sea are dedicated to serving our Goddess by serving Life - tending the Hearthfires of our daily Lives, while doing the small and simple things, that in reality, are what create the future: taking care of our homes and gardens, raising our children with love and magic, loving and comforting our partners and children, cooking nourishing meals, living in tune with Nature and her cycles. All of this is done with dedication and intention, and of course, in service to Brigid, who, like Vesta of ancient Rome, and Hestia of ancient Greece, is both the Hearth AND the Fire........ | |
