It lists records that I have re-mastered to CD for a number of publishers over the past ten or more years. They are listed under the publishers name Collectors Classics to Timeless - see the Labels navigation button above and, rather than give the titles of each CD, I have given the major artist and – because sometimes the titles of the albums are a bit vague – the catalogue number and some subsidiary information. Complete personnel and track titles are not given but most can be easily deduced from Rust because the majority of these albums are discographica lly oriented. Where links to the publishers are given, their own websites will give you all the details, and I will be happy to answer any particular queries you may have. Many of them will be available from your local stores but if you have difficulty – or live in the Hindu Kush, Amazon Jungle or Idaho and would like to obtain a copy - you can contact me direct as I keep a small supply of those in catalogue for selling by post.

DAVIES, John R.T. b John Ross Twiston Davies, 20 March '27, Wivelsfield Sussex; b It's Trad Dad! (Richard Lester's first feature). Davies also played with the Anglo-American Alliance '67-72 and the New Paul Whiteman Orchestra '74-5 ( see Dick Sudhalter) and others; he led his own band in the '90s called John R. T.'s Gentle Jazz. His Rhythmic Five (with Keith Nichols on piano) backed Jimmy Noone Jr on Jimmy Remembers Jimmie '85 on Stomp Off; he played elegant and gently swinging alto sax on four tracks on Dick Sudhalter And His London Friends '94 on Challenge. Jazz Giants in the mid-'90s, each issue with a 'free' CD; new work '97 on Masters of Jazz included 'complete' series of Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington. JOHN DONNE Criticism of John Donne has traditionally been male territory. Of the eighteen studies of the poet recommended by Stevie Davies in her bibliography, all are by men. Donne boasted of 'the masculine persuasive force' of his verse, and after his death he was commended in Thomas Carew's 'Elegy' for his 'line of masculine expression'. Among recent critics, John Carey celebrated Donne for his triumphant masculinity in his influential book John Donne: Life, Mind and Art . Stevie Davies marches onto this field like an Amazon determined to put the cohorts of Donne's male supporters to flight. She reminds the reader, particularly the male reader, what it is like to be a woman experiencing the aggressive thrust of Donne's poetry. From place after place in the so-called love poems she picks out examples of Donne's contempt for women, his cynical exploitation of their bodies and disregard of their minds, and his coarse delight in their weakness. He dehumanizes the mistress-figures: 'She becomes an edible commodity; usable goods which, when sampled, are rendered worthless; game to be flushed out and killed; a mindless piece of flesh without individuality, whose feelings are expressly not to be taken into account'.

He was converted when about eighteen years old; studied at Hackney College; was settled at Blakeney, Gloucestershire, seven years; was sent by the Colonial Missionary Society to Melbourne in 1863, and was soon called to the pastorate at Kew, in the vicinity.
