Object Permanence magazine, 1994-1997
A selection of book reviews from Object Permanence magazine is available here . The website of the revived Object Permanence pamphlet series can be viewed here
A brief history:
Object Permanence described itself as a magazine of experimental / modernist poetry, was edited by Robin Purves and Peter Manson, and was published in Glasgow, Scotland between January 1994 and February 1997. The magazine arose out of the extreme difficulty we had encountered, in Scotland, in trying to obtain information about contemporary British and North American experimental writing. In the absence of either a living/sustained connection between the Scottish poets we then knew and any such wider scene, or of any local academic interest in such writing, we were left to glean fragments where we could. A Various Art was in Hillhead Library. The Paladin anthologies came as a revelation, when finally we found them. The L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E Lines supplement to a volume of essays called The Line in Postmodern Poetry (reference?) was for a long time our only source of work by writers of that tendency (the Scottish magazine

Jon Krumdick Jon Krumdick, a student at the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont, worked as intern at the foundation for the first five weeks of the summer of 2001. Jon, who is from Athol, Massachusetts, is currently seeking a degree in American Studies, the study of America’s culture, history, and heritage through American literature and history.
“We must not fear the consequences of truth, only the failure to tell it completely." Charles Dawes Charles Dawes, Calvin Coolidge’s Vice President, developed a life-long interest in banking and finance into a prominent political career. From his beginnings as a lawyer in Nebraska and a successful career in real estate and investment to his political and governmental career, Dawes left his mark on the nation. Dawes’s family also had prominent businessmen among its lineage. His father owned and managed a successful lumber company in Marietta, Ohio. An uncle was a prosperous banker. The experiences and influences of his family members shaped his life. In his autobiography Calvin Coolidge noted the importance of one’s ancestors by recalling the comments of a New England sage "reported to have said that the education of a child should begin several generations before it is born." Given the contributions of the Dawes family heritage to the American experience, these words definitely applied to Dawes’s life.

Dover Edition Local N.H. Local Me. ... School Honor Rolls Friday , April 23, 2004 E-mail This Article Ex-Dover girls coach found guilty of assault By TERRY DATE Democrat Staff Writer Ernie Clark EXETER — A judge on Thursday found former Dover High School girls basketball coach Ernie Clark guilty of simple assault against a player’s parent after a game in January. But Exeter District Court Judge Laurence Cullen also noted the victim, Joe Gagnon, had engaged in extreme provocation before the unwanted touching took place. And in another development, the judge ordered during a post-trial hearing that the prosecution provide the defense with a copy of a videotape that may include audio relevant to testimony Thursday, though not of the incident itself. On Thursday, prosecution witnesses Joe Gagnon and his wife testified that after the Jan. 6 game between Exeter and Dover, Joe Gagnon was walking down the bleacher stairs and arrived at the bottom near Clark and the Dover team bench.
