Jo Ellen Bogart
Jo Ellen was born in Houston, Texas, USA on October 20th, 1945. She now lives in Guelph, Ontario. She wrote the following books:
Dylan's Lullaby (1988)
Malcom's Run Away Soup (1988)
10 For Dinner (1989)
Sara Saw a Blue Moscow (1991)
Mama's bed (1993)
Gifts (1994)
Two Too Many (1994)
Jo Ellen earned a degree in elementary education and psychology. She met her husband, a zoologist, in 1975. They moved to Guelph, Ontario. Jo Ellen spends her free time reading, writing, playing on her computer, and loves to look after her pets. She has many animals. She has an Australlia shepherd, an Argentine desert tortoise, a guinea pig and a water turtle. She also loves gardening and most important her family. She likes to read her books to kids at any elementary schools and libaries. The book Jeremiah Learns to Read is about a boy named Jeremiah that learns to read his first book. I found that her style of writing is very intressting and always has a catchy title. Jo Ellen is always very busy with her animals whom she loves very much. Written by Ian Drake, December 17, 1999.

Review by Leslie Millar. excerpt:
Reginald had two too many rockers on his chair.
Madeleine had two too many saddles on her mare.
Eleanora's elephant had two too many knees.
Susan's Mississippi had two too many ``P"'s. Jo Ellen Bogart has written a counting book of sorts in Two Too Many. She makes her home in Guelph, Ontario and has published several children's books, among them Gifts, Mama's Bed, Sarah Saw a Blue Macaw, and Malcolm's Runaway Soap.
Two Too Many is presented as a pre-school story. There is one line of text for each full page of illustration, but the concept of ``two too many" is quite abstract, making it unsuitable for younger audiences. It is not really a counting book in the true sense of the genre. Counting books typically offer a logical counting progression that readers can work out, anticipate, and succeed at.
For example, the lovable bug in Eric Carle's

Mission Statement: Our mission is to empower life-long learners, who strive for excellence in a changing world by creating an environment that promotes academic skills, social skills, and responsible citizenship. Dear Parents and Students, We are all saddened by the loss of Mrs. Bea Holst who has been a member of the school community for many years. Bea drove one of our school buses for 32 years and has been baking special Dundee Dragon cakes and cookies for the school. Our sympathy goes out to the family, particularly her daughter, Charlotte Cudney, who continues in Bea’s footsteps and drives our kindergarten bus. We also send condolences to Lyle Hallman’s family. He visited the school last year and his financial support of the Strong Start early literacy program will continue to benefit a number of our kindergarten and grade one students. It seems early but we are looking ahead to the Christmas season and our charity giving. Once again this year, we will be collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child. A letter (pink) was sent home last week with the details. This project will take place during the first two weeks of November in order that the items can be boxed and sent to many countries before Christmas. The School Council recommended that New Dundee School stay open when buses are cancelled.

It is based on a successful reading festival in Toronto, the Kama Reading series, hosted by World Literacy of Canada. The event was co-sponsored by World Literacy of Canada, National Literacy Secretariat, Prince Albert Literacy Network, SaskTel and John M. Cuelenaere Public Library.
