Gang-gang, the son of a poor fisherman, takes the first step toward maturity in River my friend , William Bell's second picture book. Set in an unidentified Asian location, this simply-told story is illustrated effectively, evoking the tropics by using warm, rich gold and yellow tones contrasted with cool blues and greens. Bell takes the reader through Gang-gang's family's struggle to make ends meet and their brief encounter with modest "wealth" when a rich woman generously pays them for fresh fish. Gang-gang begins to understand his family's plight and is determined to help out, only to come close to suffering a tragic end to his life. All turns out well, however. Gang-gang catches the "entrepreneurial spirit" which is necessary to his family's survival and moves toward young adulthood in the process.

    HOME COMPOSERS BYRD
William Byrd (c.1539-1623) Born in London at the end of 1539 or early 1540, William Byrd was the foremost composer of the Elizabethan age and among the three or four English composers since the Renaissance who have stood unequivocally as equals with their continental contemporaries. A master of keyboard music and the madrigal as well as Latin and English church music, he was an organist and member of the sovereign's private religious establishment, the Chapel Royal. Yet he remained throughout his life a dedicated Roman Catholic who was persecuted as a recusant and who upheld through his art the old faith. The spirit of his work survived undimmed through the neglect of the baroque and classical periods. It was only with the publication of The Byrd Edition during the 20th century, however, that the full range of his genius became evident and accessible to music lovers, an awareness enhanced by the wide range of recordings now available, performed by many of the world's leading early music specialists.

I am a direct descendant of Celia Little and Thomas Teackle Taylor, and will include a surname list on this page, so if any of these names are familiar to you, please email me and we will share information. I am also Co-editor and Co-writer of a Native American genealogical and historical journal that is filled with history, surnames, census rolls, and much more that we hope will be very helpful to folks who, like myself, feel the desire and the need to reconnect with their Native ancestors.
You can find out more about the journal by visiting Native Indian History
NOTICE:Tuesday, August 19, 2003- The Four Winds Journal has been discontinued, but I will have something new to offer in the very near future, so please continue to check back often. Also, within the next few days I will be adding another lineage from Mathias Taylor's brothers, Stephen and Joshua, which comes down my mother's side of the Taylor lineage, so don't miss it! I am leaving the link up for the Native Indian History homepage because even though Rouge Wolf and I no longer have the journal, he still has a wonderful site that I know you will enjoy as much as I do.

John Kay , the twelfth child of a Yeoman farmer, was born near Bury in Lancashire in about 1704. Little is known about his early life but he was living in Bury in 1730 when he patented a machine for twisting and cording mohair and worsted.
For centuries handloom weaving had been carried out on the basis of the shuttle bearing the yarn being passed slowly and awkwardly from one hand to the other. In 1733 Kay patented his flying shuttle that dramatically increased the speed of this process. Kay placed shuttle boxes at each side of the loom connected by a long board, known as a shuttle race. By means of cords attached to a picking peg, a single weaver, using one hand, could cause the shuttle to be knocked back and forth across the loom from one shuttle box to the other.
A weaver using Kay's flying shuttle could produce much wider cloth at faster speeds than before. Some woollen manufacturers used Kay's

    William Bell
    U.S. Spy for Poland
A radar specialist at the Hughes Aircraft Company in Los Angeles, William Bell was at the end of his financial rope in 1978 when he declared bankruptcy, following a failed marriage. Bell , however, was worth a considerable amount of money to Polish intelligence that worked directly with the KGB in Moscow. Bell had clearance to secret information at Hughes Aircraft , in particular the most sensitive weapons systems then in development for the U.S. Air Force Bell lived at a posh apartment complex in Playa Del Rey, a fashionable beach community southwest of Los Angeles. Just when he was wondering how he would continue to make ends meet, Bell was befriended by a new neighbor, Marian Zarcharski , a 25-year-old executive who worked for the Polish-American Machinery Company (Polamco) which was headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, just outside Chicago. The youthful, apparently successful Zarcharski , invited Bell to play tennis and the two quickly formed a fast friendship.
