ELSA TRIOLET De son nom de baptême Elsa Kagan , c'est un écrivain français d'origine russe. Elle est née à Moscou en 1896 et est décédée à Saint Arnoult en Yvelines en 1970. Elle a fréquenté très jeune les milieux intellectuels de la capitale russe. Elle est aussi la soeur cadette de Lili Brick, la femme du poète russe Maïakowski. Sa beauté, son charme et son intelligence font d'elle une sorte de muse d'un groupe d'écrivains : le "groupe futuriste". Mariée à un français, André Triolet, elle séjourne à Berlin et à Tahiti. Ce dernier voyage inspire son premier roman écrit en russe "A Tahiti" (1926. Deux autres suivent : "Fraise des bois" (1926) et "Camouflage" (1928). Elle rencontre Louis Aragon en 1928 à Paris dans une manifestation. Dès lors leur deux vies sont inséparables. A la fois compagne et inspiratrice du poète (il écrit pour elle "les yeux d'Elsa" en 1942), membre comme lui du parti communiste , elle entend bâtir son oeuvre propre qui constitue cependant une sorte de réponse à celle d'Aragon.

Aragon, Louis Ecrivain et poète français qui, mêlé un temps à l'aventure dada, fut un des chefs de file du mouvement surréaliste. Fils illégitime d'un haut fonctionnaire de la III e république, élevé dans la gêne financière d'une bourgeoisie déclassée, il fut reçu bachelier en 1915, puis entreprit des études de médecine et fit la connaissance d'André Breton, avec qui il se lia d'amitié. Mobilisé en 1917, il retrouva son ami après la guerre et participa, avec lui et Philippe Soupault, à la création de la revue Littérature (1919). L'année suivante, il publia un premier recueil de poèmes (Feu de joie), puis, après avoir pris part à quelques manifestations de Dada s'engagea dans des recherches littéraires qui devaient aboutir au surréalisme, rédigeant successivement un texte ironique présenté sous la forme d'un roman d'apprentissage (Anicet ou le panorama, 1921), un pastiche du roman didactique de Fénelon (les Aventures de Télémaque, 1922), composé en partie selon le principe de l'écriture automatique, et un recueil de nouvelles (le Libertinage
