Soccer The day before a big game Alan Shearer calls Kevin Keegan to announce being a Prima Dona he can't travel with the rest of the squad but will go up to Glasgow in his chauffeur driven limo. Keegan has no problem with this so they arrange to meet at the hotel and off they all go. Shearer's journey is uneventful until driving through the borders the driver sees a furry blur run out in front of the limo........jumps on the breaks but it's too late, THUD! Out the both get to examine the damage and see a small animal the like of which neither has seen before. "What on earth is it like?" Asks Shearer The driver admits he has no idea but says it must be a domestic pet as there is a diamonte studded collar around it's neck. A closer look reveals an address tag and the word TWAT picked out in diamonds on the collar. "You wander up to the farm house and tell the owners" orders Shearer " I'll wait in the limo." Several hours pass and Shearer is growing anxious having almost finished one across in the Daily Sport cross word (feline C_T), when he sees the driver

D.C. tops Tottenham 1-0 in friendly Posted: Friday October 18, 2002 10:44 AM
ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) U.S. Major League Soccer club D.C. United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Thursday in a benefit game at White Hart Lane in London. D.C. became the first professional American club to play a friendly in the home of an English Premier League side. "Tonight was a great advertisement for Major League Soccer," said United coach Ray Hudson, a native of Newcastle, England. "We played attractive, attacking soccer in a big-time atmosphere against a first-class opponent and got a deserved result." Many of Tottenham's former greats including Paul Gascoigne, Juergen Klinsmann and David Ginola returned for the benefit match played to support former Hotspur players who have since fallen on hard times. In the 85th minute, Guest player Wade Barrett broke the seal. After collecting the ball in midfield, Richie Williams spotted Moreno, whose flick on to Barrett left him free in the box, and San Jose's All-Star defender calmly beat Lars Hirschfeld for the tally. Lineups D.C. United: Nick Rimando; Milton Reyes, Eddie Pope (Ivan McKinley-46'), Jeff Agoos, Wade Barrett; Ben Olsen (Petter Villegas-78'), Richie Williams, Marco Etcheverry (Capt.) (Eliseo Quintanilla-71'), Bobby Convey; Santino Quaranta (Ali Curtis-83'), Jaime Moreno.

Friday, June 22, Home in Sainte-Maxime
    Salut!
The Carte Noire shoot finished on Monday, after which I went to my home in Sainte-Maxime. The filming went really well, and I can't wait to see the final edited version of the commercial. I must say, their coffee is very tasty.
My wife and the children were already in Sainte-Maxime, so we're all together again, and the pressure is off 'Mr Mum.' It is times like these that I love, just to be with the family and relax. I have also played golf a couple of days this week with my son Andrea.
The weather here is absolutely beautiful - I hope it stays like this. Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year. It was light until 10pm, which was brilliant.
Thanks to all of you who have emailed me this week. Once again, I have been inundated, and it is always a pleasure to read your views and questions. I am still reading through them all, and haven't quite finished, so I will answer

Tuesday, June 19, World Cup Expectations
    Salut!
What a World Cup it is turning out to be! Who would have imagined that teams such as France, Argentina and Portugal would have gone out at the first round. France is in a state of shock, especially considering that we didn't score a single goal. It was not what people were expecting. The best thing now is to be positive about it, and hopefully the French team will resurface at the next World Cup as a force to be reckoned with.
I am pleased that England are doing so well. I expected them to because they are a very good team. I think the victory against Argentina was great for their confidence. They now face a massive game against Brazil on Friday, and I am sure they will do well. I'm looking forward to it, and I think it will be a fantastic game to watch.
It's also great to see teams like South Korea, Senegal and USA in the quarter finals. Almost every continent is represented in the last eight - what you would call a World Cup indeed!

It almost happened Sunday in a goalless draw at Old Trafford. The match was slowly fading when Arsenal's Patrick Vieira lost his cool and aimed a kick in the direction of Dutch forward Ruud van Nistelrooy in the 80th minute. No contact was made, but it was enough for referee Steve Bennett remember the name? to send Vieira off with a second bookable offense. No, of course that wasn't all. In injury time, Bennett awarded a penalty to United when Diego Forlan fell from a challenge in the box. Furious Arsenal players surrounded Bennett, but there was relief when van Nistelrooy struck the bar for his third consecutive miss from the spot unthinkable for one of the top strikers in the world. When the final whistle blew, a pair of Arsenal players pushed van Nistelrooy and tempers flared at midfield.
