She performed in a benefit show in Boise, Idaho alongside Brian Orser, Yuka Sato, Caryn Kadavy and Nicole Bobek with the show's choreography designed by Lea Ann Miller. This benefit show at the Bank of America Centre and Arena on March 2 was designed to support Idaho's Olympic hopeful athletes in all Olympic sports and was a near sell-out. "I also met Idaho's governor, Dirk Kempthorne in his office and he came to the show and post show reception. It was an honor to meet him and we did some TV interviews for the show together," said Grishuk. This show was promoted by IMG and Diamond Sports Entertainment according to her agent Jay Ward, may be televised at a future date. During this show, Grishuk took part in three group numbers choreographed by Miller. "Working with Lea Ann Miller was just amazing; she is such an incredible choreographer," she said. Miller included three group numbers, a western, a waltz and a contemporary piece for this show. "Lea Ann got a piggy bank for me for good luck and all the other skaters added money to it for me right before the show started. It was so cute and so nice of them that it moved me to tears," said Grishuk. She felt a little nervous as she took the ice but Grishuk felt the reception from the audience helped her. "At first I felt like a five year-old kid going out for the first time but once I heard the audience I didn't feel alone out there anymore. he people were very supportive and the whole atmosphere was wonderful," she said.

1989-90 was the first season of Oksana and Evgeni as a dance team. They skated to "Zorbas the Greek" and gave an impressive debut. There next FD was something entirely different: in 1992, an Olympic season, they portrayed robots/machines, using extravagant, modern music. And all of this despite of their bad luck with injuries. Especially Evgeni was struggling with his knee throughout their amateur career. Such a knee injury forced them to withdraw from all competitions during season 1994-95 except Worlds. Nevertheless, they skated a brilliant Quickstep (OD) and debuted a very solid "Steppin' Out" freedance in Birmingham. I liked this program although it seemed to be a bit conservative for them. Season 1996-97 also brought a new exhibition piece to "You'll See" by Madonna, one of my all-time favs. They told a whole story on the ice, including some new and inventive moves. The end is equally spectacular: Evgeni is lying on the ice, Oksana is stepping over him, throwing his jacket at him. But this Olympic title also meant the end of their partnership. They went on tour with Champions on Ice, one last time, skating to "Frozen" by Madonna and split afterwards. Someone once said Evgeni had two options: revolutionising ice dancing in the pro circuit or staying mentally sane. He opted for the second alternative. Ironically, he teamed up with Maia Usova. I saw their skating in person and I found it amazing how happy these two looked while skating together. Their programs didn't impress me that much but still, I felt happy for them because they seemed more at ease than during their old partnerships.

While watching and following last season's ice dancing, I couldn't help but think about how much ice dancing has changed in the past few years. No doubt it has grown to be one of the most exciting disciplines of the sport - especially during the last few seasons. Along with rule changes, politics, and yes - the scandals, ice dancing has certainly grown and the new and innovative skaters are definitely taking ice dance to it's limits! However, I sometimes wish I could see my old favorites back out on the ice. Let's take a brief glance back, and I apologize for leaving any well-knowns out, but these five come to mind immediately when I look back over the past 10-15 years of ice dance. Pasha Grishuk wants to win an Oscar someday. She's already the star of her own soap opera. Grishuk, the Russian ice dancer, is expected to win a second straight gold medal Monday at White Ring when she and partner Evgeny Platov skate their free dance in the third and final day of ice dancing competition.
