Internet Triple Challenge 1999-2000 Report by Anne Calder Christmas Pops on Ice, featuring Todd Eldredge as guest soloist, returned to Colorado Springs fter a five year absence. The cast included Renee Roca and Gorsha Sur, Tom Dickson and Catarina Lindgren, and the Broadmoor Skating Club. The Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra was again directed by Dr. Charles Ansbacher as he had done in 1993. The first half opened with the playing of the Light Cavalry Overture , as the ensemble and featured skaters wove across the ice. No introductions were made. Todd was the last to appear, dashing down the ice at great speed, only to come very close to the edge, which caused him to two-footed the triple toe. He ended with a sizzling scratch spin. Members of the Broadmoor skating Club performed tomusic by Tchaikovsky, Leroy Anderson, and Rossini. Their costumes were exquisite, especially the ensemble - long velvet dresses trimmed with white fur and matching tuxedos. November 18, 2002 Mary Lally A hot, sunny June day in Michigan was the setting for the kick-off of the Chevy "It's Great to Skate" Festivals. In conjunction with the United States Figure Skating Association, Chevy sponsored a series of skating "festivals". A total of six festivals, which feature personalized skating lessons from 1996 World and six-time U.S. Men's Champion, Todd Eldredge, were held across the country. Winners for the lessons were selected from USFSA's Website The first festival was held at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester, Eldredge's training rink. Five additional festivals were held during the fall in Cleveland, Philadelphia, Scottsdale, Atlanta, and Dallas. A large turnout visited the Onyx festival along with reporters from the local newspapers and a television station. To accommodate all the contest winners, five clinic sessions were held. Within each session, skaters were divided into groups based on skill level. Each group was assigned a coach who also shared tips and helpful suggestions during the session. Nationally known coaches such as Richard Callaghan, Mandy Callaghan and Olga Volozhinskaya assisted with the clinic, as well as nationally ranked skaters Jennifer Kirk, Larisa Spielberg, and Craig Joeright. Outside in the parking lot area, Chevy provided a festival atmosphere complete with food, prizes, and a variety of amusement games including a giant tricycle race track. During a break between clinic sessions, Eldredge also spent time with fans signing autographs and posing for photos.

The former world champion put on a brilliant show of spins and jumps to lead the men's figure skating short program at the Goodwill Games and now the crowd was saluting his performance. "The reaction from the crowd was fantastic," he said. So was Eldredge, who put on a flawless performance but felt there was more that he could have done. "Everybody can skate a little better," he said. "There were a couple of spins I could do better." He gets another chance Friday in the long program with the Goodwill gold on the line. And once again, the competition comes from 1994 Olympic champion Alexei Urmanov, second to Eldredge after the short program. Urmanov is coming back from a groin injury that forced him to miss the 1998 Olympics.

Eldredge completed his personal progression, clinching the men's singles with a brilliant free skate Friday night. He already had Goodwill bronze from 1990 and silver from 1994. The pairs gold medal went to world champions Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, who beat archrivals Artur Dmitriev and Oksana Kazakova. In two parts: Men's, and Pairs. Stacey Fong, 10/31/2000 Master's of Figure Skating October 12, 2000: Boise, Idaho Televised: October 25, 2000 on TNT The Master's of Figure Skating is a "pro-am" competition. It tries to bridge the professional world of ice skating, which focuses on artistic and choreographic quality; and the amateur world of figure skating, the world that we see in the Olympics and the World Championships, which emphasizes technical prowess. The competition consists of two parts: the short program, which contains the required elements we see in ISU (International Skating Union, which governs the amateur world of figure skating) competitions; and the interpretive program, which caters to the professional world, placing importance on artistry and performance. They show up at the rink with smiles and skates and bring not only delight, but encouragement to the skaters. The sessions build up the skaters' self confidence, physical endurance, and strength - both on and off the ice. SABAH requests $60 a season per skater, which covers ice time, insurance, equipment, and costumes. This amount barely covers ten percent of the actual cost and the rest comes from donations and fund-raisers. "No one is turned away for inability to pay," says O'Donnell. SABAH puts people with disabilities of all ages on ice, blending excellence in on-ice instruction with assistive technology that is designed to meet a skater's individual needs. SABAH's uniquely designed assistive equipment includes walkers, its own line of adaptive ice skates, and harnesses, functionally extending traditional concepts of "assistive technology" to the recreation arena. SABAH has partnered with two manufacturers to exclusively produce its skates and walkers, which will soon be available to the general public. It should be mentioned that the
