2001 Stars on Ice Tour Southaven, MS. The next day was the show, I had third row seats!! Second row actually, but there were seats on the ice. This is a pretty new arena (DeSoto Civic Center), and this was by far the biggest event held there. It was a GREAT show, here are some descriptions of the routines: LET'S GET IT ON: Opening routine, all the skaters are in it, and they switch partners a lot. I GOT YOU (I FEEL GOOD): Scott Hamilton, I think he hit all his jumps in this. I don't remember what jumps everyone did. He was (of course) the crowd favorite, and got several standing ovations during the night. A SONG FOR YOU: This is where a little boy skates out and is supposed to be a young Scott Hamilton. The kid in this particular show is the son of a friend of my aunt!! HIGHER: Steven Cousins. He doubled his lutz but landed everything else. Really good routine, wearing red leather pants. DESERT ROSE: Kristi Yamaguchi. She wore a pink dress that is kind of similar to last year's "Smooth" dress. She fell on a triple loop but hit everything else. I didn't really like this routine that much. DRIVE/DRIVEN: Ilia Kulik. I really don't remember too much about this. I think he got a lot of cheers at the end.

2002 Stars on Ice Tour Southaven, MS, March 02 The show was great, but I have to admit that I liked last year better. I had on ice, near center seats. Here's my review! SUPERSTAR: Lucinda Ruh is my favorite skater in this show and she was spectacular! In this routine she starst to spin before the lights come on, so when they come on, she is spinning at full speed! Awesome! BLACK BETTY: Pretty good routine, each skater was announced. LADY MARMALADE: All the girls in the show were in this, pretty good. TANGO: Don't remember too much of this routine. LORD OF THE RINGS: Todd Eldredge's Olympic long program (and the music is from my favorite movie!), with 2 triple axels landed clean! He's my other favorite in this show, and he was great. He was THE crowd favorite too!!! GUITAR: Kurt Browning, lots of footwork. COLOR OF ROSES: Very pretty routine by Tara Lipinski. She hit all her jumps, I think 2 triple toes and a triple Salchow. VARIETY TANGO: Began with Kristi, Tara and Katarina talking about what they look for in men, while Steven, Kurt and Denis tried to get their attention. But the girls skated off right past them and they were left to skate with those lit-up table-mirror-chair things. RENDEZVOUS: Ilia Kulik.

After a few nice flowy moves, the rest of the female skaters appear on the stage in matching outfits. Steven and Brian Orser join the girls and each performs nice spirals or spread eagles to the soft music, nothing too harsh, just flowing with the music. The same thing continues as each of the pairs skaters and dance teams enter. Brian Boitano skates in last and the intro ends. Frank D'ambrosia hosted the show. open with the first solo to "Hallelulah I Love Her So" no jumps caught my eye during this number, so maybe none were attempted? many lifts were done, a very smooth program and typical Jenni and Todd material, positively said. Rory Burghart skated whole-heartedly to "Hit the Road Jack" -great dance moves, nice triple toe and very cool gold skates. She was costumed in a nice beige dress.

From the first chapter, I was fascinated with the background of these great athletes. Joy Goodwin has obviously done her homework........and has been deeply moved by their stories. I read the entire book in 3 days, and would reccomend it to anyone who loves a great story, not just skating fans. Video: The Lawrence Welk Show - The Lennon Sisters: Easy To Remember - This is certainly one of the best specials ever produced about the talented stars of Lawrence Welk's weekly musical dance-fest. Although the program is hosted by (and tells the story of) the lovely Lennon Sisters, it also offers a marvelous portrait of the singers and musicians who performed in the earlier years of the show Alice Lon, Big Tiny Little, Pete Fountain, Rocky Rockwell and many others. There are plentiful clips of these stars at their best, all tied together with present-day (well, early 90's) footage of the Lennons reminiscing about their days when they were part of Lawrence's musical family. A must-have for any Welk show fan! Video: The Sisters of the Gion - I just had a chance to see this beautiful movie, and once again I have to revise my ideas about Japanese cinemait's even more profound than I'd believed. What strikes the viewer immediately is the masterful use of shadow. The great novelist Kawabata wrote about the shadows of traditional Japanese homes and buildings, lit by lamps instead of neon, and this film utilizes shadow with the touch of a Rembrandt. The viewer is pulled into another world, the lovely and cruel world of pre-war Asia. The director explores the cruel circumstances of the sisters with compassion, and complete realism. The viewer knows with absolute certainty that the sisters will never escape their destinynot because of any moral failing, but because there's no way out. If you haven't seen this moviewatch it very soon and visit a world you've never dreamed of.
