2001-02 FLYERS FIGHT CARD
By Mike Barr
Like it or not, fighting is part of the game of hockey. Though there are those who want to eliminate it, not only does it allow players to protect their own but the fans go crazy when the gloves are dropped. This page will track the Flyers' performances in fights throughout the season. The fight decisions are judged by whoever writes the game review in which a bout takes place. Naturally, this is completely subjective so these statistics must be considered opinion rather than fact. There are certain to be results with which you might disagree, and that's fine. Feel free to discuss on the message board The scoring system is as follows: Win (W): The Flyer clearly has the advantage in the fight, landing more good punches and earning the decision. Loss (L): The opponent unquestionably lands the better blows and gets the victory. Draw (D): Either the fight is dead even or one of the combatants has a slight edge. Neither player has a decided advantage. This category also includes fights which end quickly due to one or both players falling to the ice before any significant punches are landed. FLYERS FIGHT CARD AS OF 04/07/2002 Player W L D Points Pct Fedoruk, Todd

King Luc III Luc Robitaille is back with the Kings login: laexaminer; password: laexaminer
It's one year for $1.1 million. It can go up to $2.5 million if he meets certain goals, though.
This is Robitaille's third stint with the Kings. They've got to be hoping he still has some gas in the tank. He was horrible last season. It's a gamble, but hopefully it'll pay off. Robitaille's career shouldn't end on a sad, depressing note. It might, but it shouldn't. Posted by Steven Ovadia on Friday, July 25, 2003, 07:58 AM The Easiest Stanley Cup Ring As far as I can tell, Rink Blog was the first to pick up on the fact that Mike Modano's Stanley Cup ring was up for sale on eBay
Don't panic. It turns out the whole thing was a big misunderstanding . Modano said a jeweler could display the ring, but the jeweler thought he could sell it.
It seems the ring is back with Modano.
And that's that. Posted by Steven Ovadia on Friday, July 25, 2003, 07:57 AM Leafs Predict Hiring a New GM within Next Few Decades So the regular season starts October 8, right

Tappelijoitakin tarvitaan, jos on "kalavelkoja" maksettavana jollekin pelaajalle. Tappelijoiden tehtävänä on varsinaisesti viihdyttää yleisöä ja puolustaa seuransa tähtipelaajia, joten tappeluita nähdään paljon NHL:ssä. Tappelu-ennätys yhdellä kaudella on Floridan Paul Lauksen 39 tappelua kaudessa . Siihen määrään ei ole vielä kukaan yltänyt, vaikka moni on yrittänyt.

No, not the scoring race, or playoff race....I'm referring to a player's nationality. I certainly wasn't around, and I'm sure a lot of you weren't either, when Willie O'Ree became the first black player in the NHL, with the Boston Bruins in 1958. It was only a matter of time before major pro leagues became more diverse, and thankfully it happened in the NHL that early. However, the process of black players making their way to the NHL pro league hasn't exactly been as speedy as it has in baseball. Why that is, I don't know, considering there are many talented players such as Jarome Iginla, Anson Carter, Mike Grier....uh....Peter Worrell....see, that's the thing. Beyond a very, very small percentage of players, there really isn't that big of a talent pool, and it's pretty shallow.

Black Hockey Players in the NHL
by MICHAEL MORRISON February 3, 2000 When Anson Carter was ten years old, his life was much the same as most of the other boys growing up in his Scarborough, Ontario, neighborhood. He went to school, came home, and played hockey. As he continued to play, advancing rapidly through his local leagues and on to Michigan State University, he began to stand out for two reasons. One, he was almost always the best player on the ice, and two, he was black—a rarity in hockey.
