NASHVILLE PREDATORS color analyst Terry Crisp is one of the lucky ones. Lucky in the fact that he has three Stanley Cup rings. If there is one thing that an NHL player wants just as much as his name on the Stanley Cup, it's a Stanley Cup ring. Crisp won two rings as a player with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1974 and '75. He won his third as head coach of the Calgary Flames in 1989. "Those rings mean a lot to me," Crisp says. "They are a constant reminder to me of what success can bring to you in the NHL. Having my name on the Stanley Cup three times is the ultimate. But the Rings are just as good." Any NHL team that is considered a serious Stanley Cup contender, has to build the cost of championship rings into their budget.

The puck's about to drop on the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs. To get you ready, here's a look at some of the wildest and wackiest moments in Stanley Cup playoff history. Longest Moment
One of the most exciting things about Stanley Cup playoff hockey is sudden death overtime. When the next goal decides the winner, games can go on for hours and hours. The longest NHL playoff game happened on March 24, 1936 between the Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Maroons. The game finished at 2:30 in the morning when Martin "Mud" Bruteneau scored the winning goal for the Maroons after 116 minutes and 30 seconds of extra time - that's nearly six periods of O.T. The final score was 1 - 0. Darkest Moment
During the second period of Game 4 of the 1988 Stanley Cup Finals between the Boston Bruins and the Edmonton Oilers , the lights went out at the Boston Gardens. A 4000 volt switch overloaded and the brain-dead maintenance workers at the arena weren't able to turn the lights back on. The Stanley Cup playoff game was cancelled and replayed two nights later in Edmonton where arena staff were able to keep the power on for the entire game. Ugliest Moment
In a 1976 Stanley Cup playoff game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs , Dave "The Hammer" Schultz picked up an NHL playoff record, 42 penalty minutes. His total included two

Pucken gled in under en förvånad hemmamålvakt.

The Bulldogs have been involved in countless charitable projects, including Jump for Heart, Adopt-A-Highway, Building Bulldogs, Kid's Fest, Mentor Duluth Appreciation Night, YMCA Kid's Day, S.K.A.T.E. (Skaters Keep Achieving Through Education), Teddy Bear Toss, Relay for Life, Walk for Cancer, and various elementary school/youth clinics, carnivals, parties, dinners and hospital visits.
The UMD athletic department is committed to providing the Duluth, Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin communities with the time, effort and enthusiasm of over 400 student-athletes, coaches, staff, and even Champ the Bulldog and the Maroon Loon. Drury has a blast By Adrian Dater
    Denver Post Sports Writer
    Jan. 31, 2001
-SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mike Ricci lost his glove. Then he lost his man. And then the San Jose Sharks lost the game to the Colorado Avalanche. There isn't much room for error when teams play the Avs this season. That was never better exemplified than in Colorado's 3-1 victory over the Sharks on Tuesday night at San Jose Arena. When Ricci, the former Avs center, lost his glove in the Sharks' zone in the third period, he momentarily lost his man, Peter Forsberg. When Forsberg picked up a loose puck in the corner, not only was Ricci out of position, his teammates were, too. That was all Forsberg needed to slip a pass that Chris Drury blasted into the net to break a 1-1 tie and send Colorado to its seventh straight victory, and 16th game in a row with at least one point. Drury's booming slap shot past Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov was all goalie Patrick Roy needed, but rookie Ville Nieminen added one more for good measure with 6:13 left as the Avs swept both games this season in San Jose. "Peter made a great pass," Drury said. "It practically stopped, it had so much touch on it. 'Nemo' was in front, causing some confusion, as usual, and I just got a good shot off."

avalanche 5, wild Avs wild about expansion By Adrian Dater
    Denver Post Sports Writer
    Jan. 13, 2001
    - ST. PAUL, Minn. - Expansion has been very, very good to the Colorado Avalanche. Six times this season the Avs have played first-year NHL teams, and six times they have come away with a victory, the latest a 5-0 decision over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night at a quiet Xcel Energy Center. Five Avs players scored, which was more than enough for goalie Patrick Roy, who posted his 51st career shutout. Of Roy's three shutouts this season, two have come against the Wild. "It wasn't as easy a game as the scoreboard says, but we played a good, solid game," said Roy, who made 21 saves. "We had some tough penalty kills to (make) in the first two periods, but the guys were extremely sharp. They play well in this building, so it's a good win for us." Colorado's victory, which tied St. Louis' league-leading 28th of the season, snapped a nine-game Wild home unbeaten streak and extended the Avs' streak of getting at least one point in each of their four games so far on a five-game road trip. The Avalanche started both the first and second period the hard way, with Milan Hejduk and Joe Sakic each committing doubleminor high-sticking penalties less than a minute in. Fortunately for the Avs, it was the Wild that was on the power play. Minnesota came into the game with the league's worst power play, at just 8.4 percent.
