================================================== (Longueuil, Thursday October 11, 2001)The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Commissioner, Gilles Courteau, announced today the 4 members who will be inducted to the QMJHL Hall of Fame in 2002. The QMJHL Hall of Fame will honoured 3 players and 1 head coach: Raymond Bourque, Jacques Locas Jr, Sylvain Locas and Ghislain Delage on next Thursday February 28 at the Marriott Château Champlain. Raymond Bourque doesn’t need any presentation: he is one of the best hockey players in the hockey history. Born in Montreal on December 28 in 1960, Raymond Bourque had a very nice career with the Sorel and Verdun Éperviers between 1976 and 1979 with a total of 220 points in 204 games (1,08 point per game). At the NHL Entry Draft in 1979, the Boston Bruins at the 1st rank, 8th total, drafted him. Bourque was on the 1st All-Star team in 1977-78 and 1978-79 and received the Émile «Butch» Bouchard award in 1978-79. He played 22 seasons in the NHL and received many honours: Calder trophy in 1979-80, Norris in 1986-87, 1987-88, 1989-90, 1990-91 and 1993-94, King-Clancy in 1991-1992. He also was 19 times member of the All-Star team (13 times on the first one and 6 times on the second one). Finally, Bourque played practically all his career with the Boston Bruins before he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche which whom he won his one and only Stanley Cup in 2000-2001. After that, he announced his retirement from the competition. Jacques Locas Jr has played with the St-Jérôme Alouettes (1969-70) and with the Quebec Remparts from 1970 to 1974 and won the Memorial Cup in 1970-71. In 1972-73, he was the top scorer of the QMJHL with a total of 68 goals and in 1973-74 he has scored 99 goals, which is the 7th highest total in the Canadian junior history. With a total of 269 goals, Jacques Locas Jr is at the 4th rank of the QMJHL and of the CHL history; only Mike Bossy, Stephan Lebeau and Normand Dupont are ahead. During the playoffs he was simply amazing with 61 goals, 92 assists for total of 153 points in 73 games. On March 15 in 1974 in a win of 15-1 against the Cornwall Royals at the Quebec Coliseum, he got 9 points, 3 goals and 2 assists in the 2nd period. Finally, Jacques Locas Jr played 4 seasons in the WHA and has played for Jacques Demers in 1977-78 in Cincinnati. Sylvain Locas was a former member of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens from 1974 to 1977 and of the Sherbrooke Castors in 1977-78. He won the Jean Béliveau trophy in 1975-76 even with Richard Dalpé from the Trois-Rivières Draveurs; both got 160 points. He was named on the first All-Star team in 1975-76 and on the second in 1976-77 as a centre. Sylvain Locas was the top scorer in the QMJHL with 80 goals in 1975-76 and 1976-77 and he also got the highest total of assists with 98. With a total of 254 goals, he is at the 7th rank of the QMJHL and at the 9th rank of the CHL. On February 17 in 1976, at his 18th anniversary, he did the best performance of his career with 7 goals and 1 assist in a tie of 9-9 against the Sorel Éperviers. Finally, Sylvain Locas played with the Kansas City Red Wings, the Kalamazoo Wings, the Milwaukee Admiral, the Adirondacks Red Wings and the Nova Scotia Voyageurs. The Locas brothers had a total of 523 goals, 580 assists for 1103 points in 538 games in the QMJHL. Ghislain Delage has coached the St-Jérôme Alouettes (1969-70), the Sorel Éperviers from 1970 to 1972 and the Sherbrooke Castors from 1972 to 1981. With the Sherbrooke Castors, Delage won 3 times the Jean-Rougeau trophy, in 1974-75, 1975-76 and 1979-80. He also won twice the President Cup in 1974-75 and 1976-77 and went 2 times at the Memorial Cup tournament. Ghislain Delage was named head coach of the first All-Star team in 1973-74, of the second All-Star team in 1971-72, 1974-75 and 1979-80 and of the third All-Star team in 1978-79. Behind the Sherbrooke Castors’ bench, he got 40 wins and more during 6 consecutive seasons from 1974 to 1980. Finally, in 1974-75 and 1975-76, with Sherbrooke, he finished with more than 51 wins; the Castors was at that time the first team of the QMJHL history to get 50 wins during 2 consecutive seasons. 30 Source: Claude Rompré Directrice des relations publiques, communications Tél. : (450) 442-3590, poste/ext. 215 crompre@lhjmq.qc.ca

Leary, who grew up in Worcester, moved the event to Boston after three years at the smaller Worcester Centrum Center.
But only Orr, on skates publicly for the first time since the final night at The Garden in 1995, drew an ovation so loud the workers at the Big Dig could have used it as an excuse to delay construction.
But as Leary and the other stars were quick to point out after the game, this day was for the firefighters and their families.
As each player was introduced, they made their way down a receiving line of sorts, made up of firefighters from New York City, Boston, Worcester and Chicago.
Leary began the foundation in 1999 after his cousin was one of six men lost in the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse fire. Money raised by his foundation has gone directly to the Worcester Fire Department, and more recently to the families of New York City firefighters killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

All-Star Games Bourque appeared in. Only Gordie Howe played in more (23). Norris Trophies, awarded to the NHL's outstanding defenseman, won in the 27 years between 1968 and 1994 by Boston Bruins defensemen. Bourque won five awards and Bobby Orr won eight. Seasons in his career in which Bourque was not selected for the NHL All-Star team. His 13 First-Team nods are more than any other player in NHL history. He was also a Second-Team pick six times. Career regular-season games played by Bourque, the third most in NHL history. Bourque's rank on the NHL's all-time assists list. Only Wayne Gretzky notched more assists than Bourque's 1,169. Defensemen with more career points than Bourque's 1,579. His 410 goals are also the most ever for a defender.

    Career Ice Time Leaders
In an earlier essay, I outlined a method for Estimating Ice Time that a player received. Just for fun, I thought it would be fun to compile some career numbers and show who racked up the minutes. NOTE: The base statistics that are the core of ITE were not recorded before the 1967-68 season, so we are missing a great many players from the record. Men such as Gordie Howe, Rocket Richard, Nels Stewart, etc, etc, etc, that played before 1968 will not appear in the list. That’s a limitation of the ITE system, admittedly. I can’t (and won’t) create numbers out of thin air, so unfortunately their ice time estimations exist only in hypothetical arguments in other formulae and statistics, such as Normalized Production. Players whose careers overlap the period before and after 1968 will have their minutes measured for the years which I am able to. I only wish more could be done to continue our search for the great players.
