beeHive Hockey 98/99 Pool Final Standings It's official. Troy Visser claims the Rogue Puck (TM) . Check the Past beeHive Pool Winners Wall of Fame Here's some humble words from the winner: As I sit here contemplating what words of wisdom I should impart on those fellow poolsters who were not as triumphant as myself, I look to the past and gaze upon the speechs of those who used to be winners. Of course, their pitiful attempts to impart their limited knowledge aren't particularly useful any more. However, they inspire an appropriate mood of reflection in my time of jubilation and wild celebration. Indeed as I take a pause from the Vancouver-wide bachanalia that has spontaneously erupted since my recent achievement of THPS (Total Hockey Pool Supremacy), I look back upon my winning season. It was a season that was characterized by an amazing stretch-run in the final month which propelled me from 26th place (a position eventually clinched by a certain Steven Smith) to 1st overall. It was also a season that taught me the value of loyalty - tenaciously hanging on to the likes of Keith Tkachuk until I realized he really was a no-good bum and then dumping him faster than Wayne Gretzky can enter the Hockey Hall of Fame. Finally, as you can probably tell from this acceptance speech, it was a season that taught me something about modesty. Choosing a nickname like "Content with Mediocrity" was simply brilliant. It lulled all of you into a false sense of security while I waited patiently to strike. | |
