41. The HoopsKlyce Page: Fantasy Basketball Statistics 101
As the manager of a fantasy basketball team, you are not necessarily interested inthe players who excel in a particular category, you want the willis, kevin. 3.
http://www.hoopsklyce.com/archives/stats101.shtml
F ANTASY B ASKETBALL S TATISTICS October 7, 1998 A typical fantasy basketball league has 12 teams with 10 starting players on each team. To get an idea of what the average stats for a player active on a starting fantasy roster would be I analyzed the statistics of the 120 players who averaged the most minutes played per game last season (hey ... what else are you going to do during The Lockout ... watch baseball? ... I don't think so!). The averages for 8 common statistical categories are shown in the table below. Also, to determine how the players stats were distributed above and below the averages I found the standard deviation of the 120 players for each stat category. A 'bell' shaped distribution would predict that 68% of the players would fall within one standard deviation of the average. Hang with me now ... the goal will be to determine who the fantasy basketball studs are ... not to put you to sleep! CATEGORY AVG PER GAME STND DEV STND DEV/AVG Points Rebounds Assists Steals Blocks Treys Free Throws FG% In the same manner the fantasy stiffs can be identified. Calbert Cheany and Joe Smith managed to be in the top 120 in minutes played per game but were below average in all 8 of the categories investigated. By the way OnHoops.com readers, LJ was below average in 6 of the 8 categories! That's kind of stiff too.

are 2 to tangle By JULIAN GARCIA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER In the third quarter of the Knicks' 96-95 victory over the Spurs at the Garden last night, Clarence Weatherspoon and Kevin Willis exchanged elbows, shoves and glancing blows. After the game, they did everything but exchange Christmas gifts. Call it the spirit of the holiday season, but the two players, who had nearly started an all-out brawl, seemed as if they had put everything behind them as they left the Garden after the game. Meeting in the hallway between the teams' locker rooms, Weatherspoon and Willis shook hands, embraced and chatted, both wearing sharp suits instead of menacing stares. An hour earlier, however, the mood was much different. With 2:17 left in the third quarter of an intense game, Michael Doleac hit a running jumper to give the Knicks a 67-64 lead. Setting up to grab a potential rebound, Weatherspoon and Willis got locked up, and Willis gave Weatherspoon a shove. Weatherspoon retaliated by pushing Willis into the stands and the players then went after each other before teammates and officials separated them. Both players were given technical fouls and ejected, and even as Weatherspoon was walking back toward the locker room, he had to be restrained.

Fall 2002 - Summer 2003 Recap
Our club events for 2003 have been very successful. We met with former Spartan Men's Basketball Team stars Steve Smith and Kevin Willis (now with the San Antonio Spurs) on January 8 before the Spurs - Sonics game that evening. We all got together at Jillians Billiards to watch MSU take on Texas in the Elite Eight. And for our last event, we held a reception for Keith Williams, Executive Director of the MSU Alumni Association.
Reception for MSU Alumni Association Executive Director, Keith Williams
Our May 9 Reception for Keith Williams, Executive Director of the MSU Alumni Association was a huge success. Thirty-five local Spartans were in attendance at Cafe Hue' near Occidental Square in downtown Seattle. We began with pleasant conversation as people arrived. There were several folks who were attending their first club event. We all hope it will be their first of many to come. The food was served around 6:30. Our menu included spring rolls, egg rolls, rice, and one chicken and one vegetarian main dish. The food was great, and there was plenty of it. Before introducing Keith, we had a quick round of Spartan Trivia with Spartan T Shirts-in-a-Mug as prizes. Since Todd really wanted to give these shirts away, he made the trivia questions exceedingly easy. (Keith later described them as the sorriest darn trivia questions he had ever heard.) For those of you who missed the event, here are the questions and their answers.
