SG Isaiah Rider and PG Bimbo Coles were removed from the starting lineup last Friday against the Knicks. Rookie Jason Terry took over at the point, Jimmy Jackson moved from small forward to Rider's shooting guard position and Chris Crawford moved in at forward. The changes workedat least for one game. Rider should get his act together By Grant Marek Special to The Desert Sun December 2, 2000 OK, let’s see, Kobe  here. Shaq  here. Isaiah  Isaiah  where’s Isaiah? Oh, that’s right, the guy making the league minium for veterans has decided to sleep in today. Lakers guard Isaiah Rider arrived at the Lakers game against Indiana on Tuesday an hour late. Coach Phil Jackson benched him for the first half and played him only four minutes in the second. Rider supposedly ripped Lakers management after the game and cried there was a double standard considering his tardiness, citing examples of other players’ late arrivals to practice. No double standard There is no double standard considering Rider, but merely a separate standard. Rider has had a career filled with tardiness as well as other infractions with Minnesota, Portland and Atlanta. And what Rider doesn’t seem to understand is he needs the Lakers more than they need him. If Rider still thinks there is a double standard and it isn’t fair, then I’ll trade him jobs. I’m sure I can play a fun game and make hundreds of thousands of dollars and not whine like a 5 year old. Earlier this year, Rider was late for practice because his shoes weren’t tied. I think he should consider buying some Velcro shoes because maybe the tying part is a little too difficult for him.
