He said, 'Dave Wehrmeister's got 11 letters. Is that a big enough name for you ?'" - Eddie Eichorn, White Sox owner "When I was a small boy in Kansas, a friend of mine and I went fishing. I told him I wanted to be a real Major League baseball player, a genuine professional like Honus Wagner. My friend said that he'd like to be President of the United States. Neither of us got our wish." - Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th President of the USA "Not only will I be changing diapers at home, now I will be changing them in the clubhouse." - Jim Eisenreich, 38 year old Marlins outfielder and father of three children 6 and younger, on the youthful look of Florida's roster

Quotes - A "I never thought home runs were all that exciting. I still think the triple is the most exciting thing in baseball. To me, a triple is like a guy taking the ball on his 1-yard line and running 99 yards for a touchdown." - Hank Aaron, Milwaukee Braves OF "I used to love to come to the ballpark. Now I hate it. Every day becomes a little tougher because of all this. Writers, tape recorders, microphones, cameras, questions and more questions. Roger Maris lost his hair the season he hit sixty-one. I still have all my hair, but when it's over, I'm going home to Mobile and fish for a long time." - Hank Aaron, as he closed in on Babe Ruth's career home run record "Mickey meant an awful lot to me. He was a tremendous athlete. People didn't understand him the way they should have. He played 10 years on one leg. But more than that, he was a tremendous person." - Hank Aaron on Mickey Mantle "Looking at the ball going over the fence isn't going to help." - Hank Aaron "I had just turned 20, and Jackie told me the only way to be successful at anything was to go out and do it. He said baseball was a game you played every day, not once a week." - Hank Aaron, on Jackie Robinson

JOHN KRUK JOINS ESPN'S BASEBALL TONIGHT WILL ALSO WORK SELECT GAME TELECASTS
John Kruk, a three-time All-Star outfielder/first baseman, has joined ESPN as a Baseball Tonight analyst. Kruk will join ESPN's Sports Emmy Award-winning team of host Karl Ravech, analysts Harold Reynolds and Peter Gammons, and will primarily appear Sunday through Wednesday during the season. He will also serve as an analyst for select game telecasts.
"Baseball Tonight is the team every former player wants to join," said Kruk. "I'm thrilled to team with Karl, Harold and Peter and look forward to working with them throughout the season."
Kruk will make his Baseball Tonight debut Monday, March 29 at 12:30 a.m. ET (9:30 p.m. PT). During the regular season, Baseball Tonight will generally be televised Monday through Friday at 10 p.m. and 12:17-1 a.m. (9:17 p.m. PT); Saturdays at 10 p.m. and midnight; and Sundays at 12:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
Kruk made his first ESPN appearance during a Spring Training telecast Friday, March 5, when the New York Yankees hosted the Philadelphia Phillies from Tampa, Fla. He called the game with fellow Baseball Tonight analyst Reynolds and play-by-play commentator Sean McDonough.

John Kruk
- Former Philadelphia Phillie
Former major league baseball All-Star John Kruk joined ESPN in 2004. He is a studio analyst for Baseball Tonight and will be a game analyst on various telecasts. Prior to joing ESPN Kruk worked as a game analyst for the Philadelphia Philiies and was a member of FoxSportsNet's BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW PERIOD. BDSSP was the first sports/entertainment television show combining the sports and comedy worlds in a unique "guy talk" format. In 2003 Kruk left the BDSSP to become a game analyst for his former team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
The former three-time All-Star outfielder/first baseman retired in 1995 after a 10-year major league career with the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago White Sox, in which he hit for a .300 average, with 100 home runs and 592 runs batted in.
In one of the most bizarre retirements in the sport, Kruk simply walked off the field after singling in the top of the first inning off Scott Erickson on July 30, 1995 in Baltimore. After the portly ballplayer stroked the single, he simply said goodbye to his teammates in the dugout and left Camden Yards with his family.
