Encyclopedia Definition: Hey Arnold!
Hey Arnold! is a Nickelodeon cartoon first aired in autumn . Created by Matt Groening 's inlaw Craig Bartlett , and based on his clay animation shorts, the central character is Arnold, who lives with his grandparents Phil and Gertrude (his parents Stella and Miles have gone missing) in a boarding house. One of the qualities of the series is that it isn't much about Arnold, but rather about the neighborhood, his friends at school, and even the boarders at the Sunset Arms. Most notable are Gertrude; and Helga Pataki , who hates Arnold on the outside, but loves him on the inside. Hey Arnold! is the second longest-running Nicktoon, behind Rugrats So far, 99 episodes (out of the 100 made) have been aired in the US. Also, there was a movie , made in about the main characters' exploits to save their neighborhood from an unpopular redevelopment project. The much-derided Hey Arnold!: The Movie (originally made for television) grossed a paltry $13 million in cinemas. There had been plans for a second movie, based on Arnold's search to find his parents, however, contractual problems with Nick has since led Bartlett to leave the channel for the Cartoon Network Nick had earlier turned down plans to spinoff the Helga character (and her family) into her own series (like All Grown Up!

GERALD MARTIN JOHANSSEN (and family) Click on a square to go to that page: Season 1 Season 5 Gerald is Arnold's best friend - which usually means he's on the scene when Arnold's latest escapade happens. (Notice that when Arnold and Gerald are together, you never really see anything happen to Gerald, now do you? Well, maybe that bug costume incident at the end in "Best Friends"...)
Gerald is also the occasional voice of reason (just when Arnold needs it) and the teller of the schoolyard legends. He may be beginning to notice that Phoebe is paying more and more attention to him - and the feeling could be mutual, although Gerald does accept a date to a dance from an older girl in "6th Grade Girls". (There weren't any "Gerald and Phoebe" scenes in any of the second season episodes, but Phoebe has "that look" after Gerald's solo in "Gerald's Tonsils", and they're together throughout Rhonda's party in "Hey Harold!".)
Gerald's last name is spelled "Johanson" in the first season and "Johanssen" in the second season, although it's spelled "Johannsen" in the credits for "The High Life" and "Johansson" in the credits of the "Urban Adventures" tape; since Gerald signs it "Johanssen" in "The High Life", that's the spelling used here.

Colors indicate the season (based on when the episode was shown in the USA):
Red - First Season, plus the six "holdover episodes" made as part of the first season but not shown until later
Blue - Second Season
Green - Third Season (including "School Play"), plus "Parents Day"
Pink - Fourth Season
Brown - Fifth Season
Note that "Grandpa's Packard", and "Phoebe's Little Problem" have not had their writing or directing credits shown in the USA yet
Italics indicate the person was not credited in the story's opening credits
(applies only to Storyboard Directors and Animation Directors)
"(Story)" indicates the person was credited under "story by" but not "written by"; "(Story & Writer)" indicates the person was credited under both "story by" and "written by" (I assume that when "story by" and "written by" are credited separately, "written by" indicates who wrote the teleplay) "Supervising Director" is credited only when the person is credited in the opening credits and is not also a storyboard or animation director, and includes "Directed By" credits (Jamie Mitchell did the first-season episodes, including the holdovers, and "Arnold's Halloween"; each Second and Third Season episode was done by either Larry Leichliter or Steve Socki)

Maine Baseball Splits Doubleheader with New York Tech
Old Westbury, NY- The New York Institute of Technology Bears held of a late University of Maine rally to earn a 7-6 win in the second game of a double-header between the two teams today. The Black Bears cruised to an 8-1 victory in the first game of the day. With the split, the Bears are 5-9 on the season and Maine’s record stands at 11-8.
Maine loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first inning in game one, but NYIT starter Andrew Karkoulas (Guelph, Ontario) was able to pitch his way out of the jam, only allowing one run on a sacrifice fly from Joe Hough that scored Ryan Quintal. The Black Bears extended their lead to 4-0 with three runs in the third. Mike Ferriggi singled home Greg Creek and Simon Williams scored on a throwing error from NYIT left fielder Christian Diez (East Meadow, NY). Aaron Izaryk’s groundout plated Ferriggi for the third run of the inning.
Maine took a commanding 8-0 lead with four runs in the fourth as Quintal picked up an RBI single and Ferriggi drove in a run with a double.
Senior Ronny Reyes (Brentwood, NY) accounted for the Bears only run of the game with his first homerun of the season, a solo shot over the right field fence.

AUSTRALIAN OR AMLB PLAYERS TO REACH
    THE US MAJOR LEAGUES
Occasionally we have been asked about the relative standard of the Australian Baseball League in comparison with other baseball leagues around the world. Of course, it is impossible to provide conclusive evidence about how strong a particular league might be as there is no means of direct comparison. However, there is no dispute that the benchmark for all baseball is the USA's MAJOR LEAGUES. The simple fact is that the Australian Baseball League has featured numerous players through its ten year history who have reached the major league level in the United States of America.
The lists featured on this page may be presented as undisputed, tangible evidence that the Australian Baseball League has indeed been a very serious, high-quality baseball competition. AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS WHO HAVE REACHED THE US MAJORS GRANT BALFOUR
