England and Portugal go way back. English crusaders were up for it to help oust the Moors from Lisbon in , and the mutual trade treaty signed in 1294 became Portugal's first ever alliance with another country. Since then there have been many instances of mutual help. England lent a hand in Portugal's wars against Castile (the 1400s) and the French (the 1800s), and Portugal stood up and were counted (to the tune of 35,000 dead) in the Great War top England's cultural history was certainly marked by the arrival on its shores of Lady Catherine of Braganza te a . Two-way players such as Gamble dot college game
By David Jones
Gannett News Service Deion Sanders tried it in the NFL, becoming a legend for scoring touchdowns on offense and defense ... with a little baseball mixed in. Charles Woodson won a Heisman Trophy while starring on both sides of the ball at Michigan in 1997. A year later, Georgia's Champ Bailey also made a run at college football's top award while playing receiver and cornerback. And last year, it was Ohio State's Chris Gamble who caught the eye of the nation, starting the year at flanker, adding starting cornerback duties six games into the season and winning co-MVP honors for the national champion Buckeyes.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and city rivals, King Faisal settled for a goalless drawn game in a friendly match played at the Kumasi Sports stadium on Sunday.
Both teams are preparing for their continental assignments with Kotoko billed to play Asec Mimosa of Cote D'Ivoire in the African Champions league in Abidjan on April 11 while Faisal also meet Power Dynamos in a Confederation Cup match in Harare, Zimbabwe next week.
The two teams went into action with all seriousness but it was Kotoko who threatened for the leader in the fifth minute, but Mohammed Suraju in goal saved Charles Taylor's brilliant attempt at goal for Faisal.
Faisal quickly organised themselves and when they gradually warmed themselves into the game they had a clear chance in the ninth minute to find the opener but strongly built Owusu Ampoma failed to find the net.

Charles Tillman
Chicago Bears
CB
Louisiana-Lafayette Stength: Charles Tillman is a big cornerback. Charles Tillman is a solid tackler who can support against the run. Charles Tillman is known as a big effort guy. Weakness: Charles Tillman doesn't have ideal cornerback quickness. Development: Charles Tillman will battle for a starting cornerback spot because he has the big size scouts look for in a cornerback now, due to the influx of big receivers into the league. Charles Tillman should be able to hold his own against bigger receivers in the league, but may struggle against receivers with great burst and quickness. Charles Tillman should be a solid NFL player right away, but he will either need safety help or need to play zone defense. Charles Tillman has potential to play free safety if he struggles to adapt to man coverage in the NFL. Charles Tillman has ideal physcial skills to be a special teams player as well, which he excelled at in college. Fantasy Football Rating: Charles Tillman, as with all rookie corners, could have a lot of balls thrown his way. So look for some INTs. He won't be measurable immediate statistical improvement to Chicago's defense. Don't draft Charles Tillman, but maybe a free agent later in season if he's doing well.

Play Football the NFL Way is the only position-by-position "how to" instructional book for football players, coaches, interested parents and fans ever published by the NFL. Personally autographed by Coach Tom Bass, PLAY FOOTBALL THE NFL WAY is the perfect gift for your favorite player or coach. This extremely popular book details the proper stances, techniques and drills needed to help football players at every level develop the skills needed to play the game effectively and safely. Position-by-position, Coach Bass covers the basics and more complex aspects of play in photographs and text. Each position begins with the correct body stance and foot placement, then shows specific drills and techniques which can be used to become a better player. "Play Football the NFL Way is the finest instructional book I have ever read. It examines, explains and illustrates the important fundamentals and skills so vital in playing the game. I found it to be concise and complete. It is ideally suited for the young aspiring athlete, to the developing high school or college player, and yes, even the top professional player. For coaches at all levels of competition, this is an excellent handbook that can be used as a reference or serve as a basic source of their work." Bill Walsh
General Manager and Former Head Coach
San Fransisco 49ers
"The most complete book of drills and techniques I have ever read. Play Football the NFL Way is must reading for every coach, no matter where he coaches or the level of competition."

95. 50 Moments In Welsh Sport - Football John Charles Juventus
charles feel bitter regarding his lack of recognition at home? That s just theway it is. Maybe it s because Wales is more of a rugby nation than a football
http://www.journalism.cf.ac.uk/2000/Projects/sport/21-30/28.htm
John Charles rejuvenates Juve Italian headline April 14th 1959: "A magnificent 6ft 2in chunk of Welsh marble bestriding the pitch like a colossus in the No.9 'zebra' shirt of Juventus". In the early nineties, when Real Madrid were preparing for a European Cup tie with A.C.Milan, Madrid's manager at the time, John Toshack, was asked to comment upon Milan's European player of the year, Ruud Gullit. Toshack said: "You can't plan for him, you can't mark him. He has everything but a short back and sides. He reminds me of a black John Charles". By today's standards, if a British player was sold to Juventus for a world record fee and subsequently scored a staggering 29 goals in his first season as well as winning the Italian footballer of the year award, this player would not only be a household name but feted for years to come. Equally, if this player was subsequently voted, almost 40 years later by Juventus supporters, as one of the ten greatest ever foreigners to wear the famous black and white shirt, then surely this man, if alive, would be one of the great legends? Today, John Charles lives unassumingly in a modest semi-detached not far from Leeds, the club he served for 2 years before his transfer to Juve in 1957 for a record £65,000. If he is largely ignored in his own land, in Italy they have not forgotten.

Willie R. Tucker Jr., 17, died Monday at the scene of a 9 p.m. two-car collision on U.S. Highway 27 north of Clermont, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Willie's friend, teammate and passenger, Howard A. Russell, 17, was flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition late Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesman. Howard suffered a severe back injury and several lacerations, according to Leesburg High School Principal Charles McDaniel, who said he learned of the teenager's condition from the boy's mother.
Willie's father, Willie Tucker Sr., rushed down from Atlanta after hearing about his son's death.
"I wanted to see where it happened," Tucker said. "They still don't know why it happened."

100 Best Players Ever

June 27 Conversation with Michigan State WR Charles Rogers Interviewed by Pete Fiutak
Want to know who football's next big superstar is? Look to East Lansing where Michigan State's Charles Rogers has overcome early academic eligibility setbacks to blossom into one of the nation's most dangerous players.
photo from MSU sports info It's strange that he doesn't seem to invoke the same amount of drool from NFL scouts that Roy Williams of Texas does, Rogers is just as big, faster and was more dangerous last year. Right now, Rogers is the best NFL pro prospect in college football (although Williams isn't far off.) This year, Rogers is poised for a huge season with a veteran quarterback in Jeff Smoker throwing to him and a big, strong running back in Dawan Moss to take some of the pressure off the passing game. I did this interview in mid-April just before the NFL draft and just after spring ball.

These are the official jerseys of the NFL - the real things! The very same jerseys that are worn by the players in the games, made from Pro-Line Jersey materials, not the lower quality material used for replica jerseys. These are authentic in every way! All authentic jerseys have nameplates that are either sewn or screened on depending on each team's official specifications (though most teams are sewn on). Current style jerseys have the licensed brand logo on the sleeve and the NFL logo on the collar while older style jerseys only have the brand logo. (The NFL logo was not used at all on the collar of the older styles, so they will not be on the jerseys of the older players.) Most jerseys are available in light or dark (home or away) colors unless otherwise noted, and all jerseys have been made in the size used by the player on the field. Whether as a gift for a friend or a gift for yourself, these authentic jerseys are perfect for the avid collector or die hard fan and let you have the thrill of every NFL play right in your own home!
