1866 - The first burlesque show opened in New York City. The show was a four-act performance called "The Black Crook". It ran for 475 performances and made about $1.3 million for its producers. Not bad money in 1866. Actually, not bad money now, either. 1873 - The first practical typewriter was sold to customers. We think that in order to celebrate this momentous occasion, we should all hunt and peck on our word processors today ... since all typewriters in this, the Electronic Age, are pretty much impractical ... 1928 - Actress Katharine Hepburn made her stage debut. The play was titled "The Czarina". It would be four years before the ‘First Lady of the American Screen’ would indeed, make her first film, "A Bill of Divorcement". 1938 - H.V. Kaltenborn made broadcasting history by covering a crisis in Czechoslovakia for CBS radio beginning on this day. Kaltenborn was so devoted to his work that he slept in the studio for 18 days while bringing updates to his appreciative audience. 1940 - Johnny Long’s orchestra recorded the classic "In a Shanty in Old Shanty Town" for Decca Records.

The Long Arm Quarterback I like football so this book was good to read. This book is very exciting. I would like to read more books like this one. I think there are lots of other book that are about football that Matt Christopher wrote. THe Long Arm Quarterback The book The Long Arm Quarterback is a good book. In the book they start a six man football team. There team is pretty good but they are not the best team in the leage. There are three or more book on football that Matt Christopher has writen. I would like to read more books on football that Matt Christopher has writen. Long-Arm Quaterback Cap decided to make a man football league but someone wanted to take his spot so he told his granpa (coach of the team), then granpa let both of them play.I agree with the author about this book. My favorite part was when Cap and Jimmy both try to be quaterback. I liked it because the author showed how each character feeled. Iwould recommend this book anyone who likes football because this book is a story based on football. NFL Board Book: 1 2 3 Published in Hardcover by DK Publishing (November, 1999)

    Season: All
Season 1 The Beginnings gs Ed Sabol (Himself) Dan Endy (Himself) Joe Rutgens (Interviewee) Brady Keys (Interviewee) Bucky Pope (Interviewee)
In 1998, Phil Tuckett ran across an unprocessed negative from the 1964 preseason. Knowing he had a time capsule in his hands, Phil Tuckett suggested to NFL Films president Steve Sabol that they could produce an entire series filled with nothing but unused NFL Films footage.
Thus Steve Sabol re-traces the beginning years of NFL Films (originally Blair Motion Pictures). Ed Sabol, Steve's (and NFL Films') father, recalls the drudgery of his first project: the 1962 NFL Championship. Despite several spoiled reels, he and Dan Endy were able to produce a 28-minute highlight film that impressed NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle immensely.
With that, Ed and the rest of his camera crew were ready to shoot every game for every team, starting in 1964. Players from the mid-1960s are profiled, among them "The Catawba Claw," alias Bucky Pope.
    b : 07-Sep-1999 d Phil Tuckett
NOTE: Unused footage in this program includes films of the Pro Bowl, held annually at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum back in the 1960s. But NFL Films did make Pro Bowl highlights.
