Then on Jan 25, 2003, Mr.Collins wrote, saying he believes The one holding the book is by Herbert Bryans (note the Running Dog logo on the book) panel of the full length figure is definitely not Kempe. I can't, unfortunately, identify the artist however. It has proven to always be interesting digging into the past of these kinds of art objects. For example, the panel, at the left, is indeed Kempe. A least it has a Kempe Wreath signature. Not that we disagree with Mr. Phillips either. It is facinating to unravel. Thanks to Mr. Collins, more news on this to follow. A litle research, now with additional info, we found reference to stained glass windows manufactured by Herbert Bryans of London which may be identified by the ëRunning Dogí Signature. Bryans was formerly with the famous stained glass workshop of C.E.Kempe and examples of his work may also be seen at St Agnes, Ullet Road, Liverpool.

It is one of our older cemeteries in this part of town and a large number of individuals from Westford are also buried in this cemetery. Teresa Gross and her Grand Daughter Erin and I (Henry Raymond) did a complete survey of this cemetery in 1996. There are two parts to the cemetery, old and new. The Fitzwilliam Museum was described by the Standing Commission on Museums & Galleries in 1968 as "one of the greatest art collections of the nation and a monument of the first importance". It owes its foundation to Richard, VII Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion who, in 1816, bequeathed to the University of Cambridge his works of art and library, together with funds to house them, to further "the Increase of Learning and other great Objects of that Noble Foundation". Fitzwilliam's bequest included 144 pictures, among them Dutch paintings he inherited through his maternal grandfather and the masterpieces by Titian, Veronese and Palma Vecchio he acquired at the Orléans sales in London. During a lifetime of collecting, he filled more than 500 folio albums with engravings, to form what has been described as "a vast assembly of prints by the most celebrated engravers, with a series of Rembrandt's etchings unsurpassed in England at that time". His library included 130 medieval manuscripts and a collection of autograph music by Handel, Purcell and other composers which has guaranteed the Museum a place of prominence among the music libraries of the world. "The Fitzwilliam Museum is one of the greatest glories of the University of Cambridge. It is a museum of international stature, with unique collections most splendidly housed... Like the University itself, the Fitzwilliam Museum is part of the national heritage, but, much more, it is part of a living and continuing culture which it is our statutory duty to transmit".

To Observe and Imagine: British Drawings and Watercolors, 1600-1900 , a collection of 101 works on paper by 53 artists, will be on display through Aug. 15. The pieces come from the Italianate "palazzo" built adjacent to financier Pierpont Morgan's Madison Avenue brownstone. Known as Mr. Morgan's library, its three rooms held rare medieval and Renaissance books, illuminated manuscripts and old master drawings and prints. Morgan was a fastidious collector who always intended for his library to be open to the public. In 1924, 11 years after his father's death, J.P. Morgan, Jr. gave the building and its precious contents to the state.

Letters and papers of Charles Fairfax Murray (1849-1919), Pre-Raphaelite painter and art collector. Fairfax Murray worked as a copyist for John Ruskin and was assistant to Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones. He later worked as a buying agent for the National Gallery and a consultant for Messrs Agnew, but is best known as a collector of art. The collection numbers over 1,500 items. There are important groupings of material relating to Sir Edward Burne-Jones, including letters from his wife Georgiana and photographs of the Burne-Jones and Morris children; letters and photographs relating to Charles Augustus Howell, who was for many years Ruskin's secretary and later close companion of Rossetti, Whistler and Swinburne; and letters and papers of the sculptors and brothers William, Henry and Charles Behnes. In addition there are over 700 letters to Fairfax Murray from a wide range of correspondents and 200 letters exchanged between other correspondents. These include many of the leading figures of the contemporary art world, such as Sir Charles Lock Eastlake, George Cruikshank, Myles Birket Foster, William Holman Hunt, Frederic Lord Leighton, William Morris, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Ruskin and Frederick Sandys.
