Extractions: National security folks and military technologists were cheered when a remotely-controlled Predator UAV fired a laser-guided Hellfire missile and blew up a carload of six alleged Al Qaeda members. While US press coverage was generally cheerful - and dare we say chest-thumping? - overseas sources raised concerns about "summary execution" and violations of International law. Yes, Virginia, there is an international codification for war, and the lawyers are now trying to figure out how Al Qaeda and the US War on Terrorism fits in.
ROVer Ranch Build different robots for outer space missions and find information on the history and current state of robotics. http://prime.jsc.nasa.gov/ROV/
Extractions: Introduction Get Started Teacher's Guide Feedback ... Sitemap The ROVer Ranch is a place to learn about robotic engineering. You can learn about the development of robots, their elements and systems, and use a 3D VRML simulation to build and run your own robot. The ROVer Ranch learning activities are open to everyone without registering. If you'd like to use the robot simulations you need to register for an ID. When you register an ID and password, the ROVer Ranch software creates a workplace for you to store your robots, paths, scripts, and simulation information so they don't get lost or mixed up with someone else's robot work. The ROVer Ranch uses JAVA 1.1 and a VRML plugin. The Login/Member area does not work with most Macintosh versions of browsers. Why is this?
Extractions: Papers Welcome The research at the department is specialized on telerobotics and models and algorithms for controlling the motion of robots using geometrical sensors. Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at . This multidiciplinary department has a wide competence in computer controlled industrial processes and telecommunications. Information regarding our undergraduate education can be found at the CSEE pages and the Electronics and Robotics homepage . We have also some project proposals in robotics and mathematics and some tutorials on Lasers for Robot Control We are situated in the town of in northern Sweden commercial success! We have since continued with indoor navigation using scanning range measuring lasers, the range weighted Hough transform and autonomous map generation. Except for some limited tasks, fully autonomous robots are too difficult a problem to solve today. Therefor we concentrate our work on semi-autonomous robots and teleoperated robots where a human operator performs the difficult scene interpretation and makes the overall decisions while the robot does the simpler lowlevel tasks. As our robots grow more capable they can relieve the operator of more and more routine work. This allows us to create working systems long before we have a fully autonomous robot. Some interesting links can be found at the TeleRobotics Links Page We are proposing a Circumpolar Telecooperation Academy for groups in remote areas working with telemedicin, teleoperations etc.
