Extractions: Things must have changed since then. This is just my personal set of notes about programming the 3com Palm Pilot using linux development tools. In the interests of saving other people the anguish that I have experienced in trying to make this software work, I'll try to say here how to get it going. So far, the documentation, makefiles and header files have proved to be inadequate. The documentation is almost non-existent. The makefiles and header files have grammatical errors. If you are looking for Palm applications and development software, see my Palm organizer links Pilrc/ # GUI resource compiler. The `pilrc' software consists of `pilrc' and `pilrcUI'. `pilrc' is a `resource compiler', which is a piece of software which generates `resource' files corresponding to specified GUI objects. `pilrcUI' is a resource previewer. That is, it simulates views generated by resources generated by `pilrc'. The directory www.scumby.com/scumbysoft/pilot/pilrc
A First Guide To PostScript About this Document. This is meant to be a simple introduction to programmingin the PostScript page description language from Adobe. http://www.cs.indiana.edu/docproject/programming/postscript/postscript.html
Extractions: This is the third edition of the First Guide to PostScript . It differs from the first and second in that a number of errors which people have brought to my attention have been fixed and a number of common reader questions have been addressed. Some more information on resources has also been added. It is my hope that this document is now stable and reasonably error-free. If you find an error, please send me e-mail and let me know. I can't promise that I'll fix it right away, but I will at least add it to my list of things to do. By the way, I wish to thank the many people who have written to point out errors in this document's predecessor. Many of the improvements are due to them. This is meant to be a simple introduction to programming in the PostScript page description language from Adobe . This document is not meant to be a comprehensive reference manual (although it does contain an index of some of PostScript's standard operators and a list of various errors ). There are far better reference books , if this is what you need. Instead, this is meant as an easily accessible on-line tutorial. It was written with the assumption that you have some experience programming and are familiar with concepts like arrays and variables.

The C Programming Language The C programming Language, Second Edition. by Brian W. Kernighan andDennis M. Ritchie. Prentice Hall, Inc., 1988. ISBN 013-110362 http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/cbook/
Extractions: ISBN 0-13-110362-8 (paperback), 0-13-110370-9 (hardback). The book is readily available at large bookstores (especially university ones around beginning of term) but tends not to be stocked at the mall because it's treated like a textbook. Ordering it online is easy, for example at Amazon.com Borders Blackwell's , or Fatbrain You can also look it up at the Prentice-Hall home page. Kernighan , a relatively uncommon name, is a good search term to find it quickly at all of these places. If you are curious, a GIF-format graph of its sales rank at Amazon.com for the last couple of years is available. Here is a list of errata in the published version; many of these are corrected in recent printings. The history of the language is traced in ``The Development of the C Language'', from HOPL II, 1993: browsable , or printable PostScript or PDF . This and other historical material, including early manuals and compilers, is available at Dennis Ritchie's home page , while Brian Kernighan's home page collects pointers to his work on C and diverse other languages and systems.

Extractions: Posted by Michael on 4 June 2004, 03:57 GMT Kirk Meyer of Detached Solutions has released a new flash application for the 83+/89/92+/V200: OurWorld. OurWorld is a world atlas that is fully zoomable and has political boundaries defined by 30,000 data points. There are also labels of countries, capitals, major cities, and lakes. The 83+ version uses a flat projection while the 89 version and 92+/V200 version use an orthographic projection for a globe-like appearance. It's also worth mentioning that this app won the grand prizes in the 2003 TI App Development Contest for both the Z80 and 68k divisions. To evaluate the aptitudes and potentials of systems programming candidates of all experience levels, for work in all types of systems programming tasks. The SPAT is a generalized aptitude test designed to measure the essential traits of a systems programming position. A systems programmer or software programmer is usually involved in highly intricate programming problems relating to the programs that run the computer hardware, operating systems, peripherals and internal memory functions. The SPAT test consists of five work exercises which require candidates to demonstrate superior logic, follow highly intricate instructions, and document clearly and concisely. High ability to generalize from a specific data set, and the understanding of intricate sets of operations requiring simultaneous steps are also demanded by the problems. The problems are presented in increasing order of difficulty. The SPAT test can be used to screen both inexperienced and experienced applicants. This test also measures the ability to work in systems programming, identifying promotability and skill levels.
