Extractions: + 20. September 1957 in Järvenpää Jean Sibelius wurde am 08.12.1865 in Hämeenlinna/Finnland geboren. Er erhielt früh Musikunterricht, nahm während seines Jurastudiums in Helsiniki bei Martin Wegelius Violin- und Theorieunterricht und widmete sich bald ausschließlich der Musik. In Berlin waren Albert Becker und Woldemar Bargiel und in Wien Robert Fuchs sowie Karoly Goldmark seine Lehrer. Im Jahr 1893 kehrte er nach Finnland zurück, wurde über Vermittlung von Robert Kajanus mit einer Lehrtätigkeit am Musikinstitut und an der Orchesterschule von Helsinki betraut und erreichte mit seinen ersten Werken bald den Ruf als national-finnischer Komponist. Der Staat gewährte ihm ein lebenslanges Stipendium, damit er sich ganz der kompositorischen Tätigkeit widmen konnte. Sein Ruf verbreitete sich rasch in ganz Europa, seinen ständigen Aufenthalt nahm er 1904 in Järvenpää unweit von Helsinki. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg schränkte er seine bisher sehr intensive Tätigkeit als Dirigent und Komponist stark sein, 1921 reiste er zum letzten Mal nach England, 1924 trat er ein letztes Mal als Dirigent auf und vollendete im selben Jahr seine letzte Sinfonie; ab 1929 erschienen keine weiteren Kompositionen von seiner Hand. Was er ab jenem Zeitpunkt bis zu seinem Tod am 20.09.1957 in Järvenpää skizziert hatte, ist nicht überliefert.

There is a special memorial mounuments to Holocaust victims and Jewish soldiers and unmarked mass graves. Within the limits of the cemetery are a pre-burial house and a well.
