Extractions: Trained in Warsaw and Leipzig, he worked as a composer and painter in Warsaw, Vilnius and St. Petersburg. In the mere fifteen years prior to his untimely death in a Polish sanatorium in 1911, he produced an immense number of artistic and musical works including 200 paintings, 80 drawings and more than 270 musical compositions, about 170 of which were scored for solo piano. Marios or the Six Preludes Op. 33 evoke their own special tonal world through the use of unusual, disturbing melodies. Lahusen was born in Bremen, Germany, in 1960 and grew up in Mexico. His artistic development was supported by Edith Picht-Axenfeld, Christoph Eschenbach and Bruno Leonardo Gelber. Counted among the leading pianists of his generation, Lahusen has given concerts worldwide. Extractions: Katalog Paris 2000/01. Mikolajus Konstantinas Ciurlionis (1875-1911) war eine singuläre Doppelbegabung sowohl als Komponist wie als Maler. Dem trug er Rechnung, indem er bis an die Grenzen der Abstraktion reichende malerische Kompositionen analog den Klängen der Musik aufzubauen versuchte. Ganz Symbolist, sind seine Bilder doch weit entfernt von einem kitschigen Mystizismus. Sie sind gleichsam kosmische Visionen mit Titeln wie "Sonnensonate" oder "Andante aus der Sternensonate". In seinem dreizehnteiligen Welterschaffungszyklus sieht man im zweiten Bild nur mehr die weißblaue Wolkenaura - die Gegenstände scheinen zu verschwimmen und zu verschwinden. Immer wieder sind Anklänge an Kandinsky, Monet, Munch, Hodler oder Puvis de Chavannes zu spüren. Der vorliegende Band stellt die Werke dieses hochinteressanten Künstlers vor. Text: V. Landsbergis, S. Extractions: Washington, D.C. The St. Petersburg-based World Art group organized an exhibit of Russian theatre and costume designs in Paris, France, in 1910. V. Landsbergis incidentally mentioned in one of his articles the possibility of M.K. Èiurlionis's works being in this show . Further research led to Donald E. Gordon's book which indeed lists seven paintings by Èiurlionis in this exhibit . Moreover, in his illustrations, Gordon included this exhibit's catalogue reproduction of one of Èiurlionis's paintings . Whether these works were actually exhibited in Paris, is the subject of this paper, Although this exhibit would be of extreme interest to scholars of Èiurlionis, especially in regards to the exposure of his works in European art centers, a discussion of Èiurlionis's participation in this show has not been previously published. The exhibit was entitled "Les Artistes Russes, Decors et Costumes de Theatre et Tableaux" and was shown from June 20 to July 9, 1910, at the Bernheim Jeune gallery-Gordon gives a detailed listing of the show using the exhibit catalogue as his only source
