Each day will begin with a plenary presentation by an internationally recognized speaker or FACSS award winners. The program will contain eight concurrent sessions per AM and PM period, and each of those sessions will be comprised of poster and oral presentations.
Extractions: of CrossRef Aims and Scope: The scope of the International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry comprises such subjects as original research on all aspects of analytical work related to environmental problems such as analysis of organic, inorganic and radioactive pollutants in air and water; determination of harmful substances, including their metabolic breakdown products; and analytical methods for metabolic breakdown patterns or other chemical degradation patterns in the environment and in biological samples. The journal also covers the development of new analytical methods or improvement of existing ones useful for the control and investigation of pollutants or trace amounts of naturally occurring active chemicals in the environment, or methods that help to gain more insight into our environment. Development, modification and automation of instruments and techniques with potential in environment sciences are also part of the journal.

Extractions: ANALYSIS OF THE DEGRADATION OF OLIGONUCLEOTIDE STRANDS DURING THE FREEZING/THAWING PROCESSES USING MALDI-MS Analytical Chemistry , Volume 72, Number 20, Pages 5092-5096 Synthetic oligonucleotide strands ranging from 5-25 units in length are commonly used as standards, probes and templates in various bioanalytical applications. Until recently their preparation, storage and handling were regarded as unimportant but this work provides valuable information to the contrary. The systematic degradation of oligonucleotide strands during sample preparation is investigated by repeatedly freezing/thawing short strands followed by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometric (MALDI-MS) analysis. It is shown here that the longevity of an oligonucleotide strand is dependent on several factors including base composition, solution concentrations, strand length as well as thawing conditions. Likewise, an increase in the length of the strands increases the tendency of a sample to degrade. Another observation included that samples of mixed bases degrade according to structural conformations.

Extractions: Our Mission: To provide impartial, timely, accurate and cost effective analytical services. From organics to inorganics and from percent level to parts per billion, we have been providing agrochemical analysis for our Department of Food and Agriculture since the mid 1920's. Currently, we also provide contracted analytical services for regulatory programs from other departments within the State of California. In addition, we are participating in several analytical projects with federal funding. We provide our analytical services almost entirely to governmental regulatory agencies with the only exception of the California Export Laboratories Services (CELS). If you have any questions concerning pesticide uses or food safety issues, please try the links at the left side of this page to reach homepages of the regulating authorities.

UncertaintyManager Software for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty in analytical chemistry. http://www.uncertaintymanager.com
Extractions: UncertaintyManager is a computer application, which serves for the evaluation of the measurement uncertainty in analytical chemistry according to the Eurachem/CITAC Guide "Quantifying Uncertainty in Analytical Chemistry". The software helps the analyst to go step by step through the entire evaluation process. This process consists of the specification, identification of uncertainty sources, quantification and calculation of the measurement uncertainty. For each implemented technique, such as titration, HPLC or ICP-OES, the software is able to display all the relevant influence quantities with their interdependence. The software uses Monte-Carlo simulation to incorporate correlations between different uncertainty sources and applies the Berkson model for regression calculation. The Berkson model allows to fully consider the uncertainties in the x- and y-axis including any correlations in contrast to the normal least-square fitting procedures. The software calculates the measurement uncertainties over the entire concentration range, which has been specified for the analyte. The user can check the influence of uncertainty sources onto the measurement result at a number of concentrations within the given range. Titration, HPLC, ICP-OES and inorganic sample preparation are implemented in the first release.
