Walston spent six years with Ms. Jones's team of actors before heading to Cleveland, Ohio, where he put in three seasons with the Cleveland Playhouse. From Cleveland Walston went on to New York, where he made his Broadway debut in a 1945 production of "Hamlet", and soon found work in projects directed by Jose Ferrer and then George Abbott.
