The 26-year-old songwriter who stepped out of the country music scene in 2002, said that she would perform some of the songs from her album at the concert. Kevin Angell, director of the Tiftarea YMCA, said that he had heard that Thomson was interested in doing something in Tifton and thought that she would be great for the concert. "It's huge for us to land someone with her star power and reputation for this concert. Not only is she known by people in Tifton, but she's an established name throughout the country and we hope that will help pull people in from the surrounding areas," Angell said. The concert will benefit the YMCA's "Someone Cares" fund. The fund raises money for scholarships to help local financially challenged students to go to college.

After the army, he joined a group called the SUNNY SOUTH QUARTET from Florida. His role in that group eventually landed him the position of bass singer in THE SUNSHINE BOYS in 1948. This started JD Sumner doing a combination of Country and Gospel music . However, due to the death of Bill Lyles in 1954, he was called into the BLACKWOOD BROTHERS . He sang bass with them from 1954-1965. As a member of the Blackwoods, his career took off big time. This is where he was first noticed as The WORLDS LOWEST BASS SINGER. He also did the ORKIN MAN commercials around this time. Then in 1962, he bought the STAMPS MUSIC COMPANY from the soon to be late FRANK STAMPS and ended up reorganizing THE STAMPS QUARTET . He took the name Stamps to a whole new level. He did not sing in the group at that time, since he was in the Blackwoods. Due to the fact that people were going to Stamps concerts to see JD and he wasn't there, he decided to switch places with Stamps bass BIG JOHN HALL and became the bass singer for The Stamps, while Hall had joined the Blackwoods. When he joined the Stamps, his baritone Jim Blackwood was not the greatest singer, and invented the four microphone approach to cover up Jim's voice. Though Jim's voice is better now, this method is being used by all the groups now. Then in 1970, he was too busy with his talent agency etc. that he decided to hire a bass singer to work as a double. He hired the only bass singer he felt could do the job, RICHARD STERBAN. With the lineup of

For further information on this event, please see the article on the Duke Law website. The Jessup Moot Court Competition is the largest moot court competition in the US as well as in the world. It is also the most renowned international law moot court competition conducted in English. At the regional competition, held in Memphis, Tennessee, the team placed 1st among twelve law schools that competed for one spot at the international rounds available to teams in the Southeastern United States. Besides winning the Regional Championship, the team placed 1st in the writing competition for its two briefs. On an individual basis, Jim Pelletier was chosen as the 2nd best oralist. The team then proceeded to the world championship rounds held in Washington, DC. There, the top teams from the other US regional rounds compete not only with each other, but with the top teams from approximately 70 other countries. Many of these teams, like those from the US, had competed in regional rounds within their home countries to receive the right to compete in the international world championship rounds.
