After one, less-than-stellar year however, he decided to pursue other career options. An aptitude test narrowed the field to architecture or acting. He chose acting. Beginning in June of 1983, Marciano spent a year working as an actor in Boston. During that time, he also attended bartender school and worked as a bartender. He appeared in little-theater productions, one local movie, and a commercial for Northeastern University, but he realized he needed more training. Fortunately, he was accepted into the Drama Studio of London at Berkeley, California. Completing the one year course, he tried finding work as an actor in New York for a time; then in December, 1985, moved to Los Angeles. After working in commercials, he got his first major break: the guest star lead in an episode of Wiseguy. Other guest star roles followed in such series as Duet, China Beach and Vietnam War Story. His film credits include Come See the Paradise, Harlem Nights and Lethal Weapon II. Marciano has recently completed Gypsy for CBS, a three-hour mini- series with Bette Midler, Ed Asner, and Cynthia Gibb.

While the majority of you out there would consider bleeding out the eyes to be a medical situation worthy of an emergency room visit, I would merely follow a strict regimen of telling everyone within ear shot that I was fine, than proceeding briskly to my room to whine quietly to myself. But for my family and friends I will step through the doors of a hospital. For them I will awkwardly visit. For one girl in particular, I will stay for hours. I remember the day I met my honorary big sister, Siobhan. My family, about to embark on a Southwestern USA horseback riding vacation was taking the shrewd precaution of attempting to figure out how to ride a horse before departing. After my very first lesson, I walked into my teachers house to find my new friend on the couch riveted to David Marciano in The Last Don . As I am a fellow fan I sat down to introduce myself. I opened my mouth to speak, and her hand came up to silence me. "Shhhhh!!!," she said, "No one talks while David is speaking." I sat down beside her and watched the rest of the series in silence. Thus was born the two person admiration society for the actor. Over the next few months I grew to know Siobhan as the sister I had always wanted. She is an incredible artist. She's filled with this all encompassing urge to create, and could forge a heartbreaking piece of art out of dog hair and Popsicle sticks without breaking a sweat. Most amazing of all, she didn't consider her abilities to be anything special.

David was born in Newark, New Jersey, and his family moved to Belleville, New Jersey, then back to Newark when David was eight years old. Acting was not something in his blood at that age, as it seems to be with many other performers. He never tried out for dramatics while in school, instead concentrating on sports, but because he wasn't large enough and was quickly stomped on by larger classmates, he soon quit the freshman football team. High school and the difficult teen years brought on other difficulties. "When I was 17, I was diagnosed as self-destructive," he said. He fell into drugs, gambling and hanging out with the wrong people. Fortunately, David pulled himself out of that phase. Now he can use that material in research for his work.
