These aspirations led her to actually turn down a contract from Paramount Pictures at age eleven. "Here I was, this scrawny little girl who sang...and the Paramount executives made an offer. Though I could have killed myself ten years later for turning down the contract, at the time I wanted no part of it." Her first professional role was in a summer stock production of "Carousel," which inspired her to forget her operatic aspirations and pursue a career in musical theater. Extractions: Constance ~ I just wanted to stop by to tell you that you are an amazing portrayer of Helena...I'm so glad to hear you are taping again, General Hospital would be a boring place without Helena she keeps everyone on their toes...I just hope she doesn't cause too much trouble for Nikolas and Gia. She needs to give them a break but she can hassle the Spencers all she wants...it makes things exciting. Thank you for continuing to play Helena as she is one character I love to hate, she is amusing and deadly. What a combination. You play her so well. I hope you are still enjoying your place at General Hospital...I miss seeing Helena hopefully she will show her face again soon! May God Bless You. Amy bandw@mindspring.com

Extractions: A note from Constance Towers! Introduced February 9, 2001 Prologue. Sigh ........ Dearest Cesar, I'm afraid I must confess a slight betrayal. I have been corresponding with your suspected murderess, the powerful Helena Cassadine. I do hope you'll forgive me. She is very charming and by her words has almost convinced me that she isn't responsible for what happened to you. I am deeply sorry if this has caused you any suffering. Fondly, Buttons I wrote a note to Constance Towers who portrays Helena Cassadine on General Hospital, telling her how much I enjoyed her acting. In my note to Miss Towers, I mentioned that I was also a fan of Anders Hove, particularly for his role of Cesar Faison on General Hospital. I told Miss Towers that I was rather upset when Helena supposedly blew Faison to smithereens. On February 4, 2001 I received a note back from Constance Towers and I wanted to share what she wrote about Faison and Anders Hove with all of you. Constance Towers wrote, in part: Well, considering the fact that I still believe that Helena purposely blew up our Faison, it pains me to admit she's my favorite female character on General Hospital! ;-) Besides being a wonderful actress, I think Ms. Towers has shown she is very appreciative of her fans. I hope you will visit Constance Towers Gavin's Official Homepage which is managed by Karen, who does an excellent job.
