Franc D'Ambrosio - Review By Philip Phan Review of franc D Ambrosio by Philip Phan. (October 2, 1996). If onewere to glance he had allergies that day). Back to the franc page. http://www.shadowsong.com/franc/philreview.htm
Extractions: If one were to glance at the rankings of most favored Phantoms in a popular poll held by the Phantom Appreciation Society or any other Phantom of the Opera fan club, one would not likely find his name anywhere near the top. Let us not kid ourselves - few persons have seen every actor who has donned the infamous mask, and the vast majority of us Phantom fans have not seen more than one person perform the title role. This will not be a criticism of what should be an enjoyable avenue for Phantom fans to exchange thoughts and opinions; besides, judicious application of the scientific method is not a practice for which patrons of the arts are known. Rather, I feel quite fortunate as being one of the relative few who have been able to see the brilliant work Mr. Franc D'Ambrosio has brought to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. It is not all that difficult to assess that I had a great time seeing Franc D'Ambrosio as the Phantom. For those who have seen him in the past and found him a bit too harsh, I suggest seeing him again - he differs with each performance both vocally and in his actions on stage. I would love to see other Phantoms as well, but Mr. D'Ambrosio will always be among my favorites. The intensity of his character, coupled with the fact that I have witnessed first-hand his development, makes it an experience I shall never forget. My little brother was deeply flattered that he was approached by Franc outside the theatre and found him to be quite an amicable fellow. I doubt Mr. D'Ambrosio recalls the evening I met him with my little brother, parents, and friends and took a group photo on the stairs by the stage door but he will no doubt see this and remember that he made a family extremely pleased with his artistry and talent (even though he had allergies that day).

2,000 Plus And Still Counting The Energized Phantom franc D Ambrosio just does not know when to stop his batteries are still goingafter more than 2,000 performances as The Phantom of the Opera in the San http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Balcony/3180/franc.html
Extractions: By Carolyn Weaver (Interview done August,1998) Franc D'Ambrosio just does not know when to stop...his batteries are still going after more than 2,000 performances as The Phantom of the Opera in the San Francisco production. Franc hit the 2,000th mark in July. July 8,1998 was declared Franc D'Ambrosio Day by Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. The official proclamation was made during a post-curtain presentation honoring Franc on surpassing his 2000th performance as The Phantom in the SF production Phantom . Franc remarked that one of the things he is proud of in his continuing role as The Phantom is his ability to give back to the community. The SF company has raised over $1,000,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Franc's fan club also donates money, through their dues to a scholarship foundation for young people in the performing arts. Unfortunately, all too soon Franc's record will end as the SF production is closing after 5 years. I asked Franc about his longevity in the role of The Phantom CW: How does it feel to do the role for so many performances?
Neverland Musical Community - A View From B-5 Does that mean every understudy Phantom put the ring on Christine where franchands it out? Im very curious. But what I want to talk about is franc. http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Stage/9336/a_view_from_B-5.html
Extractions: A View from Box-5 by Kaoru The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty, London 10/30/97) Dress Circle Usually, I'd be moved or even cry at the final liar, but at London production, I did not feel the heartwrenching energy I usually feel from the stage, and the kiss scene and the reaction of Phantom afterward weren't moving either. I have to say, I wasn't judgmental at all, I really tried hard to find some good qualities in this production, but I gave up at the end. Maybe it was only that particular night the cast wasn't in sync, but I felt I was betrayed on the way home. I was thinking about SF POTO cast and how wonderful they are, and I really want to see POTO in SF again. (I think National Tour cast (Brad Little) was better than London cast) December 20, 1997 Christine Company (San Francisco, Curran Theatre) Orchestra F #114 (Interested in reading a longer version and found out how I managed to get such a great seat? Click here (note: Christopher Carl was the understudy Phantom) Music of the Night He was really sexy in this song. Especially, from "You have come here ." till "my music, my music " he leaned over the organ as if he'd like to rush up to Christine and touch her and hold her tight, but he cant. At that point, I felt like his Phantom really adores, loves, and longs for Christine. His Phantom was not a fatherly figure or mad man, but desperately in love with Christine. I could feel his heartache. His voice was really sexy and I loved it even his soar didnt last too long (darn!). His natural range is baritone, so unless they change the key for him, it must be really challenging.
