Extractions: The Pro- Life group here at Hayden High attended the Right for Life March in Washington DC. On January 22. The bus left at the Hardee's on the turnpike on the 19th. There were an estimated 30 Hayden students. Along with other High school students from around the state of Kansas. There was also a bus of college students the majority being from Benedictine. Then there was a bus of other parents and younger children. The buses arrived the following day about one 0'clock in the afternoon. The buses unloaded at the Haytt hotel, where they would stay for the next couple of days. To get there many students had fund-raisers such as bake sales. Others got money from their parish and even the Knights of Columbus. The day of the march started early. The breakfast with the state Representatives was at seven 0'clock. There they served eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, donuts, and juice. Then the Representatives addressed the people of Kansas with a lot of enthusiasm and encouragement . They let them know that they also supported our cause and would stand behind our beliefs. While doing everything possible to make Kansas a Right to Life state. During the actual march many students felt many different emotions. This is how Erin Wynkoop described it for her. " The massive hordes of people made me feel inferior to the anti life, while the echoing of our chants seem to reach China. I felt so much love for the babies that my adrenaline pumped me enough to finish the walk , even though I could no longer feel my legs."

Unseeded Fletcher team comes through to win Cup and £1000 Click here for page containing detailed summary of teams and results Congratulations to Mike Fletcher, Graham Horscroft, Mike Bull and Richard Creamer who have won this year's YC KO Cup. The winners received £1000 prize money and will represent YCBC in the Lederer Trophy in November. 40 TEAMS entered the 2001/2002 Young Chelsea Club Knock Out Cup. Both the quantity and quality of the teams made this a major competition, certainly more successful than some supposedly higher profile county level competitions. Eight teams were seeded and these teams received a bye into the second round. The seeded teams, listed by captain were - in no particular order: Su Burn, Brian Callaghan, Michael Courtney, Jeremy Dhondy, Andrew Macalister, David Martin, David Muller and Cameron Small. The remaining 32 teams were drawn in sixteen first round ties. A new repecharge system then gave Round 1 losers a second chance, and the eight seeds, the 16 first round winners and the eight teams who came through the repecharge system then went into a new Round 2 draw on a straight knock-out basis. In a hint of what was to come the first seed to tumble in Round 2 was Jeremy Dhondy beaten by a strong but unseeded team led by Mike Fletcher. Also bundled out at that stage was Cameron Small.
