Certainly, this has been one of the challenges Halle Berry has faced in her career the fact that she's so unbelievably beautiful that one automatically assumes she must be as model-stupid as she is model-pretty. Granted, the handicap (or, really, the "handicap") of otherworldly physical beauty has not been the only speed bump on Berry's road to success. "She's called Jinx because she was born on Friday the 13th, but I don't think she has much bad luck," says hairstylist Sterfon Demings. "She's stunning, and she really kicks butt." The character is a knife-thrower not your typical Bond bombshell. That's why the Oscar-winning Revlon spokeswoman vetoed bombshell hair. "Halle didn't want long, flowy hair. Her hair is short and easy to deal with. Too much would have engulfed her," says Demings. "Plus short hair is confident, and confident is sexy." Looks like Jinx is definitely tressed to kill. Leaving alone the short layers on the bottom, Demings used a curling iron near the roots of longer top layers for some lift. In keeping with Jinx's tough-girl personality, he added spikes by applying a pea-size dollop of Bumble and Bumble styling wax onto one-inch sections and twisting them upward. For softness he left the bangs smooth and flat.

Bulworth Movie Review By Anthony Leong Review of the political satire film, written and directed by Warren Beatty, and starring Beatty and halle berry. http://members.aol.com/aleong1631/bulworth.html
Extractions: If I'm not dead by Monday morning, I'll put a stop payment on that check. The comic premise of a man eschewing the usual lies and daily doublespeak in favor of telling the truth, regardless of the consequences, has been used to great effect before. In "Crazy People", Dudley Moore played an advertising executive who decides to create brutally honest advertising slogans, and in " Liar Lair ", Jim Carrey was a lawyer who had to survive an entire day without saying a lie. "Bulworth", the latest political satire to hit the theaters this year, after " Wag the Dog " and " Primary Colors ", uses this 'truth be damned' premise to make director Warren Beatty's decidedly left-wing views more palatable for mainstream audiences. I believe that welfare should be a hand-up, not a hand-down. It is 1996, and the California Primaries are rapidly approaching, and the incumbent Senator for the state of California, Jay Billington Bulworth (Beatty), is up for re-election. As he sits in his office alone, watching a tape of his numerous television advertisements, he cannot help but feel disgusted as he watches his on-screen persona utter tirades against welfare, affirmative action, and the poor. He is disillusioned by what he has become instead of the former idealist who stood next to the great civil rights advocates of the Sixites, he is now a Democrat spouting Republican neo-conservative dogma. Unable to see any future for himself after the election, Bulworth decides to commit suicide by having a price put on his head, which will leave $10 million of insurance money for his daughter.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) Halle Berry was taken to a hospital after colliding with a piece of set equipment while filming a running scene for "Catwoman" but is now back at work, production spokesman Joe Everett said. The accident was minor, Everett said Tuesday, denying reports that the Oscar-winning "Monster's Ball" actress was hit in the head with a microphone boom and spent six hours in a hospital waiting room. "She had to maneuver past a piece of equipment, a set piece, and she didn't quite run past it, but she's just fine," he said. "She was taken to hospital Saturday night, treated and released and was at work again Monday morning." Berry, 35, broke her arm last year while shooting "Gothika" in Montreal and injured her eye on the set of "Die Another Day."

An honorary Oscar for Sidney Poitier, Best Actor to Denzel Washington, Best Actress to Halle Berry what a night. On Monday morning, the commentary rolled in. Boy, do we still have a long way to go. And by "we," I mean the very people professional pundits, Oscar-watchers, spinners, critics, and armchair quarterbacks who make up the peanut gallery that exhorted the Academy to right this wrong in the first place.
Extractions: (CNN) After several roles in which she was often dismissed as more pretty face than actress, Halle Berry is finally gaining respect for her craft. Indeed, she's up for a best actress Oscar for her role in "Monster's Ball." But Berry's looks have always been combined with a bright intellect and a solid determination. She was an honor society member at her Cleveland, Ohio, high school and was elected both prom queen and class president. And yes, she was also a cheerleader. It was her beauty that gave Berry her first break when, at the age of 17, she won the Miss Teen All-American pageant. In 1985, she became Miss Ohio and first runner-up in the Miss USA pageant. She broke into acting with the 1989 TV series "Living Dolls," but her big break came when she was cast by director Spike Lee as a crack addict in his 1991 film "Jungle Fever." Other roles followed, and she began to be taken truly seriously by the powers-that-be with her role opposite Warren Beatty in "Bulworth" (1998), then with a Golden Globe-winning performance in the title role of the made-for-cable TV movie "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge."
