Extractions: Each of the following listings shows the direct ancestral lineage through the male line of one individual with a Germanic surname. Each direct line is of the format: Surname, [submitter number], (1) given name, (birth-death dates), place of birth, marriage, death or residence (as indicated by b, m ,d, or res), surname of wife; (2) given name of father of (1), (birth-death dates), place of b, m, d, or res, surname of spouse; (3) given name of father of (2). . . etc. If the wife has a Germanic surname it may be followed as a separate direct line. An asterisk ( ) indicates an immigrant. A question mark (?) indicates information not known. Surnames are not repeated within one direct line unless there is a spelling or name change. Submitters would like to correspond with those sharing their lines or those who would like more information. When the listings were printed in The German Connection, umlauts were used. For web use all umlauted vowels have been changed to the vowel plus e. Umlauted a as ae ; umlauted o as oe ; and umlauted u as ue. Additionally, any eszett appears as ss. To find a name with any search program, you must spell it exactly as spelled in this file.

Persons or organizations desiring to use the information contained within in my web pages MUST obtain my written consent. All information is for Non-Profit use only. This cemetery has regular care and is in good shape. The cemetery is located just south east of the city of Waconia, Minnesota. At first glance the cemetery appears to be positioned a little askew, but upon closer view the cemetery actually runs a true east - west pattern. Carver County Road 10 parallels the cemetery and was lain out in a northwest to southeast pattern. This cemetery has several unique cement burial crosses. These burial crosses appear to contain only a name with a few that also list dates. Out of the few cement burial crosses that do mention dates, the dates are generally between 1900 - 1910. The Jesus on the Cross statue contains: 'in memory of R. Richard Effertz 13 April 1943 - 18 September 1956'. A nearby bench lists: 'in memory of Sgt. Frank J. Vojtisek, born 8 July 1914, killed in action at Soller, Germany 27 February 1945 - buried in Henri - Chapelle, Belgium.'

Extractions: (Heska Amuna Cemetery) Compiled and contributed by David Donahue This is a very well maintained Jewish cemetery on Glenn Street at Keith Avenue. It is used by both the Temple Beth El congregation and the Heska Amuna congregation of Knoxville, which maintain separate sections of the cemetery. The cemetery was established in 1890. Because this is a Jewish cemetery, the presence of a Star of David on a marker is not noted (almost all have one). Many markers have dates for both the Gregorian/Universal calendar and the Jewish calendar. Jewish calendar dates are omitted unless they are the only ones available. Many markers have long Hebrew inscriptions. This cemetery was recorded in the 1930s as part of the Historical Records Project under the name "Heska Amuna Cemetery." This earlier record appears in Tombstone Records of Knox County , unpublished manuscript available in the McClung Collection of the Knox County Public Library. This 1990 record was checked against the earlier record, and reference is made where appropriate. It was interesting to note that names in English and Arabic numeral dates have been added to several older markers. Only one marker reported in 1938 was not found in 1990, and one infant marker may be missing. There are no obvious unmarked graves. The gate to the cemetery has a plaque with English and Hebrew inscriptions. The English inscription reads "In memory of Oscar A. Glazer Sept. 10, 1939." At the entrance to the cemetery is a war memorial. "Dedicated to the Memory of these valiant sons of Israel who, in the cause of justice and peace, made the supreme sacrifice in World War II. Erected by Knoxville Memorial Post No. 340 Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. and the Knoxville Jewish Community. May 30, 1948 Iyar 21, 5708"
