Gwaith Twm O'r Nant (Cyfrol II) A textual description of the content of the resource Ganwyd Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant) ym Mhen Porchell, Llan Nefydd, yn 1739 http://llyfrgell.cymraeg.org/twmornant/gwaithtwmornantcyfrolii.htm
Extractions: Ganwyd Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant ) ym Mhen Porchell, Llan Nefydd, yn 1739. Pan nad oedd ef ond hogyn, symudodd ei rieni i'r Nant Ganol, Henllan. Nid oedd dim yn neillduol, hyd y gwyddis, yn ei rieni; gweithient yn galed, ac nid o'u bodd y rhoddai eu bachgen athrylithgar ei amser gorffwys i lyfrau. Ennill ei damaid oedd neges ei fywyd. Canlyn ceffylau, gyrru gwagen, a llwytho coed, oedd ei brif orchestion. O amgylch Dinbych y treuliodd ran fwyaf ei oes, er iddo grwydro i ddyffrynoedd Hafren a Thowi yn ei dro; yn Nyffryn Clwyd hefyd y treuliodd ei henaint. Yr oedd yn wr cadarn o gorff, parod ei ddyfais, ond ni lwyddodd yn y byd. Bu farw Ebrill 3, 1810, gan mlynedd i eleni; a chladdwyd ef ym mynwent yr Eglwys Wen, ger Dinbych. Yn anhymig y ganwyd ef, a dyna'r pam na chafodd ei athrylith, er cryfed ei hadenydd ac er cliried ei llygaid, ei lle priodol ym meddwl Cymru. Pe ganesid ef yn gynt, cawsai feddwl Cymru iddo ei hun; a hwyrach y buasai cenedl yn deffro i weled ei hun yn nrych y ddrama. Pe ganesid ef yn ddiweddarach, buasai'r Diwygiad wedi puro ei genedl ac wedi sancteiddio ei enaid yntau, a gallasai ddangos ei hun i genedl newydd yn yr un drych. Ond daeth Twm o'r Nant yn oes y Diwygiad, pan oedd cedyrn pulpud Cymru yn galw ar y genedl i edrych o honi, nid iddi, ei hun. Er hynny, y mae interliwdiau Twm o'r Nant yn naturiolach a pherffeithiach darlun o fywyd y ddeunawfed ganrif na dim arall a feddwn.

Pan oedd en fachgen ifanc, symudodd ei rieni ir Nant Isa, Clwyd, ac ar ôl enwr fferm cafodd ei alwn Twm or Nant. Ffermwr oedd ei dad, ond roedd y fferm yn un fach iawn, ac roedd y teulun un mawr. Chafodd Twm ddim llawer o ysgol, dim ond tair wythnos. Ond roedd ei fam yn gallu darllen ac fe ddysgodd hi lawer iddo. Yna dysgodd Twm ysgrifennu yn yr efail gydar gof. Roedd ei rienin dlawd iawn. Doedden nhw ddim yn gallu prynu papur ysgrifennu iddo. Un diwrnod, aeth siop ar dân yn Ninbych ac fe gafodd mam Twm lawer o ddarnau o bapur ysgrifennu wedi eu hanner llosgi or siop am geiniog. Gwnïodd hir darnau at ei gilydd i wneud llyfr. Roedd gan Twm bapur i ysgrifennu arno wedyn.

Walks A and B are marked in red on these maps. The Castle and environs Denbigh north Map showing country walks around Denbigh History Denbigh is one of the most historic towns in north Wales. The name Denbigh or Dinbych derives from Welsh words meaning "a small fortified place". After the Norman conquest Denbigh became a Welsh border town guarding the approach to the Hiraethog hills and Snowdonia. It was also mentioned in local poetry of the 12th century. Dafydd ap Gruffydd had a fortified house in Denbigh. In 1282, when Edward I overcame the resistance of the Welsh, the town and surrounding area was granted to Henry de Lacy, earl of Lincoln, who became the first lord of Denbigh. He began the building of the present castle on its splendid site above today's town. The first Borough Charter was granted to Denbigh in 1290 when the town was still contained within the old town walls. During the Wars of the Roses the town was burned and it was subsequently moved from the hilltop to around the present market place, later to be extended in a grid pattern around Vale Street. During Tudor and Stuart times Denbigh prospered as a market and business centre. Elizabeth I's favourite, Robert Dudley, earl of Leicester, was lord of Denbigh until his death in 1588.
