Extractions: The doc's unique gift of the gab is now known worldwide and he is kept busy with both human and animal patients as well as lecture tours and family responsibilities. Added to his frantic schedule is a plea from the animals to save the forest and the endangered Pacific Western bear. To survive, the bear needs a mate and the doctor finds one in Bruno, a lovable performing bear. Dolittle discovers that if Bruno can be re-introduced to the wild (not an easy task for a bear with a big appetite for fast food), and if he finds himself in the mood for love when he returns there, the forest can be saved. Lucky, the dog returns with Dolittle to help him play Cupid with some hilarious results. The rest of the four-footed, furry and feathered cast makes up a motley crew whose comic quips with the doc, along with some very funny sight gags, keep the jokes coming. Dr. Dolittle 2 joins the growing list of family films from Murphy that still contain enough irreverent humour to keep audiences of all ages laughing. Rather far removed from the books by British author, Hugh Lofting (1886-1947) and the 1967 musical film, the "Dolittle" movies are designed principally to highlight Murphy's comedy talents, borrowing the books' singular idea about a doctor who can talk to animals.Dr. Dolittle 2 joins the growing list of family films from Murphy that still contain enough irreverent humour to keep audiences of all ages laughing.
