The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Phillips Camp Biographies (ca. 1940-1974) is a collection of biographical sketches of Utah pioneers submitted to the Phillips Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, in Kaysville, Utah. Most of the sketches were written by descendants of the subjects; some by the subjects themselves; and others were prepared by the Phillips Camp historian. The biographies were collected in honor of early Utah pioneers and were written, in most cases, during the 1940s and 1950s. A few were written during the 1960s, with one or two prepared as late as 1974. Over the years, the binders containing the sketches "were lost," stored at the home of the last known custodian of the material, Edna Roberts Smith. Upon her death, the binders were given to Roselyn Woodward Slade, a member of the board of the Davis, Kaysville Company, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Included with the collection is a Souvenir Dedicatory Program, Davis Stake Kaysville Fourth-Fifth Ward Chapel September 6, 1959

Burials go back as far as 1817, and probably earlier. Heman Ely, 1775-1852, the founder of Elyria, and numerous members of his family are buried in the family plot here, in the southwest corner of the old cemetery, all enclosed within an iron fence. When Charles Arthur Ely sold the six lots to the city in 1854, he had reserved a section of Lot #153 for himself and descendants. A handsome Civil War Monument is the site of annual Memorial Day programs.

Jewett Texts Ginx s baby Ginx s Baby, his Birth and other Misfortunes, A Satire by Edward Jenkins,18381910. Ginx s baby is, as the reference suggests, an unwanted child. http://www.public.coe.edu/~theller/soj/ofn/frater.htm
Extractions: This may indicate that one of Jewett's books was pirated in the UK: Old Friends and New of 1879 was published in an undated edition by William Nicholson and Sons of Paternoster Square, London and attributed to S. O. Jewitt (sic); it contains the first four stories in Houghton Osgood's Boston edition, but none of the others. It also contains two stories that are listed nowhere else, "A Brave Boy" and "Little Jimmy"; Jacob Blanck believes these to be of "doubtful origin" ( A Bibliography of American Literature , vol. 5., New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 1969, p.201). Despite its sturdy covers and use of gilt, it is a careless or hasty example of book production which may strengthen the suggestion of pirating. My copy of the Nicholson edition shows the author's name misspelt and that the hero of a "A Brave Boy" has his name spelt inconsistently; illustrations and page numbers do not always correspond either. I believe that Blanck is likely to be right and that "A Brave Boy" is probably not a Jewett text. It does display the interest in technical detail that Kipling admired in Jewett and its setting is a lumber district which might be in New England, but little else seems to correspond. Surface factors that immediately appear untypical of Jewett include the use of what seems to be a male narrator, the unusually short paragraphs and the lack of reflective description.

The TGN is the only available automated geographical resource that is hierarchical, global in scope, and targeted at researchers, catalogers, librarians, and archivists dealing with the history of art and architecture. The logical focus of a TGN record is the "place." Each place has attributes, including names, placecurrent political and physical world. Jabine, Thomas B. Abstract : A book on programmable logic controllers (PLC's), which are widely used to control all kinds of electrical devices. The 800+ page can be downloaded in one large file or in individual chapters. Readers can learn everything from high-level concepts, like Boolean logic and operational design planning, to physical details such as PLC specifications and connectivity. The author explains different methods of programming PLC's and offers suggestions for selecting the right PLC for a particular application. The book is a work in progress, so a few "to do" notes are scattered throughout the text
